When you have 5 times less the monthly average.. not to mention a peak that can barely reach a daily for HD2, Im not suprised. The recent peak being on Monday with Arbites launch.
Like everyone talking hod HD2 devs are amazing but what with game itself?
Some may like it but for me its really below DT and even DRG beat HD2 without mercy.
A solid experience, well tailored to be fun. Doesn’t require twitch reflexes and tons of game knowledge to get into, things are satisfying to shoot at and generally there’s always Something Happening.
Darktide has better melee and atmosphere imo, but that’s because of its first person focus and handcrafted maps.
Yeah I understand that, but there is few things quite bothering and make me drop HD2.
And to add to it; DRG is casual game to and somehow manged hooked for some time.
took a brief glimpse when it was announced/came out…
everything about it screamed “console”, from third person, controls to setting and “har har” humor which totally puts me off in about any game, no matter the rest around it.
map design doesn’t help either and the overall game flow seems to like to convey the “everyone´s a winner” laid back vibe by simply re-deploying you upon failure.
all in all not my cup of tea, to each his own though
honestly, as long as the game creates enough revenue to stay online, i prefer a smaller competent player base to an army of walking sandbags that turn every match into a slog.
cause lets be honest, most peoples performance isn’t a thing of beauty.
besides, being 45 now i totally accept my limits and admire quake champions players from afar.
fully aware, no matter the amount of amphetamine i´d take i couldn´t be there with the 5% anymore like in my 20s.
so yes, quake champions, except against some local “fallobst-gegner” is the best game i never played
It’s not really that harsh if you look at the overall trend of Fatshark’s Tide series. Before I go into it, let me preface this with: I do think there are Fatshark employees who care. I don’t believe they have any say in the final product and are forced to make the game that corporate wants and corporate doesn’t want to listen to the players.
Vermintide 1: First of the franchise with roots in Left 4 Dead style gameplay but with a focus on melee and a Warhammer Fantasy coat of paint. A diamond in the rough on launch with tons of bugs and issues. Over the next ~5 years Fatshark polished the game by drastically improving performance and itemization and created a game that was truly a gem in the horde shooter/slasher genre.
Vermintide 2: The second of the franchise and learned nothing from the first game. Optimization and Itemization were worse than the first game on launch. I’ll give them a pass on the career balance and chaos enemies as they were brand new to the franchise. Over the next ~7 years, Fatshark polished the game into a state where it was as good as the first, if not better in some aspects (i.e. Careers).
Darktide: The third game of the franchise and the absolute worst on launch having learned nothing from the first two games. Optimization and Itemization were worse than the first game on launch, and Classes were worse than Vermintide 2 on launch (no careers at all, but at least we had talent trees unlike VT1), there wasn’t even crafting! Over the past ~2.75 years, itemization has gotten better (still worse than VT2), optimization has gotten better (roughly equal to VT2), but the game still doesn’t respect the players time and money (rng map and FOMO shop based on a bullcrap currency that doesn’t convert properly into purchases leaving you to spend more than you normally would and have currency left over and you can’t even earn it in-game like VT2 with Shillings), you can’t play solo w/ bots, the bots aren’t customizable even if you could, the “universal” human cosmetics can’t be used on the DLC “human” career (“spend more you wallets, i mean players” -Fatshark), but hey at least you got Havoc and the Visions game modes which are both worse than Weaves (which is sad) and Chaos Wastes from VT2.
Ultimately, Fatshark refuses to learn and listen to what the players want because,
I guess? Ragnarok may be fed up (honestly, who isn’t at this point), and the game may be fun fundamentally, but I find rollercoasters fun fundamentally and wouldn’t ride one if it meant being whipped by the staff while waiting in line to ride one.
I claim BS. I get a consistent 60fps in VT2 on max settings but on medium settings in DT I don’t even get 60 on the Mourningstar.
I’m sorry, Sibling, but I don’t think I’ve played any other game series where these sorts of bugs start happening when nobody even touched anything related to that kind of logic.
I haven’t touched the game since December 28, 2023 though (I got tired of using MMT and using an external site to find missions to play the game solo w/ bots like I was promised), so that line was mostly off hearsay from people saying it’s better now.
Maybe, in my experience it’s only gotten worse. It’s possible mods of all things could be related to bad performance, and I really hope not, considering how minor these are.
Part of it is also that my rig appears to be outdated. I played on a gaming laptop, something that I normally scoff at, and managed to get the full 60 while the game looked prettier than what I usually get.
