I’m certain it’s an influx of Reddited people.
yes but lower difficulties also mean way less enemies; while they do have less HP / DMG Output you arent rly being taught with how to deal with the amount of enemies and bosses. something like auric intensity but hp/dmg output of heresy might be better for people to learn on and lower difficulties cant even be really called a horde game with how few actions theres going
i dont think one needs more than a hundred hours for that, as said in that time you finish like the entire mass effect trilogy, GoW multiple times, Elden Ring, baldurs gate 3 and darktide doesn’t have much combat or gameplay depth rly or even build variety / depth compared to other games; a hundred hours already is a lot
and for experienced players you alrdy have the tools to make the game more challenging, stop using cheat mods and try doing it with less talents / lower upgraded weapons?
and if they do now nerf chorus, dome, doggo, ogryn, DS, purgatus staff, smite, VoC, thunder hammer, arbites weapons, relic blade, flamer, rumbler, pickaxes, bully club, skullcrusher etc. i doubt its going to make the game more enjoyable or challenging; i’d rather have new modifiers and new enemies/bosses or make enemies smarter as a whole as a difficulty, some stuff like rituals you have to get to and destroy cause it idk buffs enemies / spawns bosses out of it
“enjoyable” is debatable. “challenging” is going to be a fact. What makes you think otherwise?
Everybody wants that, but I don’t think Crushers and Maulers should be trash mobs like poxwalkers.
FS which cannot make more than one balance patch a year, is going to improve the AI of the in-game enemies. Sure.
I haven’t played the game back before it changed into what it is now, but the thing is I do agree. I do not have much experience but I can see how the difficulty was just amplified in a rather lazy way rather than properly built up by Fatshark, turning the game from tactical to spamming to compensate for our power levels.
The issue I have is, threads like this will just bring more like OP because humans aren’t always logical. Some casual players will see how the veteran playerbase has responded here, ignore their points and subconsciously see them as the “enemy”. Then no matter how good your vision of the game is, it will be ignored.
I also think that when people talk about fun, it’s important because for some fun is challenge and for others it’s about the how it makes them feel. I think many players who talk about fun like how these overpowered weapons feel, rather than how statistically strong they are. It’s more about feel than effectiveness.
So they people call for a rightful rebalance an attack on what brings them fun. I think this is Fatshark’s responsibility here, to have things both fun but also balanced. Now of course, just as I say this elitism is bad, so is the sense of entitlement some newer players have. The game does need some tiering of difficulty because otherwise even the casual players will get bored eventually.
If challenging just means having to hit the same Enemies as before now a bit more its not more challenging when in all else its just the same; enemies getting more HP / weapons nerfed and them just being bullet sponges doesnt add any difficulty at all just more time consuming doing the exact same thing. like using some other 40k game as example first DoW I whole difficulty just enemy having more health and you less; boltgun enemies just becoming bullet sponges, SM2 enemies being bullet sponges its not fun and doesnt add any challenge at all
with more damaging enemies it becomes more challenging but then ppl complain making one mistake and they die
just saying that i would like that more…but that makes yall think then its worth writing all those threads? they probably aren’t doing either of what me and you say lol probably going to have to wait another 3 years and we might get there
I’m not gonna rant on every thing you mentiond, because it will be some crazy ammount of text. And because i did it already 40 000 times on this forum. What i can say it’s should be obvious why CDR scaling with density leads towards spam, become even more unhealthy when combined with golden toughness, and why having infinite cleave on spray weapon with no aim needed is problematic. Nothing here is about challenge in vacuum, it’s about bad gameplay in the first place that leads towards powercreep. It’s not just overtuned numbers (in some case it is tho)
It doesn’t exclude nerfs/redesign, both should be done. Cause they introduced a lot of stuff, enemies weren’t designed to counter.
No. Because it’s not an open world survival sandbox game, where you entertain yourself. Expecting for people to play only in premade groups where they are free from other people bring crutches is also unrealistic.
You are an extraordinare gamer for sure then, if with 100 hours you can give an insightfull commentary of diffrent fundamental mechanics. Not only on particular cases with blessings.
Well this is just not true, either way 99% people would have mastered the game and clear H40 with their first and only level 150 character or what it would be within 100 hours. There are not much necessary knowledge check like in PoE for example. Tho you need to learn maps, target priority, effective chains for different weapons. Bringing solo story oriented game isn’t even relevant here.
It has no replaybility value only if you don’t care to explore different weapons and classes, and overall don’t find the combat fun enough. Or never bothered to clear higher difficulties, because it’s the thing that forces you to explore the game. And with every powercreep they reduce that depth indeed.
And if they do nerf down Weapons and the Classes and say i or others or both now aren’t able to do higher Havocs now i think it would be great to then have an difficulty with still the same amount of Enemies/Bosses and Intensity but Enemies with less HP/DMG Output. I would like that as of now already to play some Weapons which just sucks in higher diffs or with Veteran cuz i suck with him. Else the lower difficulties are just to boring in terms of enemies like when i had to grind through damnation to unlock auric again with arbites was the most boring shi! ever
i think that would be a good way to let not so great players still experience the intensity and for experienced players the high diffs become more challenging again
it very much does. one of darktide’s (and vermintide’s) strongest appeal is the fact that it has a very, very high skill ceiling due to the various game mechanics and tools the game gives to the players to do very powerful things and with high skill expression, up to and including soloing the entire game. there’s hardly any other coop-shooter (or frankly any shooter tbh) that has a skilling ceiling as high for potential expression as -tide games, and that’s only because its because the mechanical depth the game provides.
the entire reason why high difficulties exist is for those whom wish to further refine the gameplay and their builds to its limits if people desire, not as a difficulty that you feel entitled to win because you bought the game. thinking as so is a profound misunderstanding of whom those gamemodes are marketed towards.
the reason why people hate those things is because they circumvent typical gameplay mechanics that both the game was built around and time has been invested in. dome, chrous and smite are very egrigious tools that can out-right just shut off the game to the point where there’s no challenge thus any enjoyment of overcoming anything. Nobody likes their work being invalidated.
it’s like bringing a bike to track race and being surprised that people have an issue with it.
No, because then you’ll be forced to engage with enemy behavior. Do you dodge or block? Do you fall back or kill that one enemy and risk being hit by another? Do you charge a heavy attack and risk being hit?
Right now you don’t have to do any of that. You just kill it. No need to dodge or even think. Just light attack spam.
Let’s say FS somehow makes the enemy really smart and then Arbie just pops their immortal mode and one shots it. What’s the point?
I don’t feel that way at all.
Mechanics are still there, the fun is still there.
Playing with randoms remained the same random experience as before either.
I mean, yes, the game is not as hard as some people here wish it would be, but your words are far from truth too…
Dodging and falling back not required? Really?
The mechanics are there, but you can just ignore them. And often they don’t even have a chance to play out.
That is the point, usually people learn first to walk then to run. Learn how to kite one crusher then a pack of them, learn how to use cover, learn the safest pats in every map, while the game is easier. Then pass to the next level
why cant i shake the image of flacid, fat old generals strutting their medals never having seen real cqb in their deskjob life ?
achievements dont equate skill or experience, can even easily be cheesed by having one or more accomplices.
so the sad fact you have to sell 8 hours of your day to pay bills means you cant enjoy that which makes your life happy the rest of the day?
must be shocking to hear sometimes people say f-it and rather skip sleep and sit
through the next day but having a good night gaming huh?
or did you never skip school back in the day?
and even on a “normal” schedule, say
8 hours are lost to capitalism
8 hours so you get a good night sleep
(important for proper performance
)
you sit in shitty traffic for 1-2 hours
then its still 7-6 hours at your leisure
if YOU dont want to spend 6 hours in something you enjoy, ok.
but there are those that wont let their life turn into a grey-slob chore zombie mode and actually do what they like.
cause otherwise whats even the point?
so, having that said and having a hobby (any hobby really) that you deeply love and that fullfills you, its not measured in hours but years ![]()
that chocob thumnail is peak
Hei that’s me! Also I got a family, still I managed to clock more than 1500 hours, and I played plenty of games other than Darktide too since it’s release. So what you say here it’s not excuse for wanting the game easier. If auric is too hard there are plenty of lower difficulties.
no one hates new comers that’s not a thing.
fatshark makes games I like and I want them to do well, which means getting more players.
sure there’s some dislike from “average” skilled people with lower skilled people because if there are any other issues in the team they stagger and fall.
if you ask any question during peak hours for the US/EU or ask for help with a penance people are stumbling over each other to help
Damn boi! He thicc boi! That’s thicc ass boi!
notice how all of his darktide thumbnails are of guns. this is what no modded realm does to a mf
