Havoc-40 Quitters

So, I play the odd few games of 40’s during the week with a pre-made & it can be slightly more fun with the right people of course you’re accustomed to. When my pre-made of fellas aren’t available, I’m condemned to Pug’s, essentially. I get that in Pug’s it’s totally RNG-gate of players you’re getting weather they’re skilled or just maybe casuals. But lately, holy sht man… Once somebody goes down once they literally just quit the run like babies & leave three other people or so to fend on their own sabotaging the mission in a sense. This has happened at least 3-4 times during just this week for me personally. I’m curious… has anybody else been experiencing this kind of behavior? It’s like, I’m back to playing Auric’s, it’s that bad. Now, I know there’s a punishment that if you leave, you’re locked out of entering new games/derank, granted… But it’s almost as if this doesn’t incentivize people to stay even with that & to be rescued like normal players anymore once they reach 40, depending of course where they’re at rank-wise. It’s just odd to me seeing this craziness in Havoc’s nonetheless & I’m probably just venting a bit too here, so don’t mind that. I just don’t remember it being this bad in Havoc because you would think more players there are a bit more experienced in this mode, but I suppose it’s not the case anymore?. Yet another reason they need that block list set to unlimited. I do have my personal 40 back from like a week ago, so this isn’t really a cope post necessarily. It’s just I find it utterly pathetic/frustrating when they leave the mission mid-game because they made a mistake & got downed or even died. It’s like; maybe you don’t belong in this difficulty… Try something else.

happened to me roughly 2 or 3 days ago. a guy quit and its just the three of us. we still won that match luckily. i have notice this a bit more in the recent weeks. i only play in pugs so it is more accustomed to happening sadly, but youre correct its pretty damn pathetic.

well, i posted enough of these during the games with @Index . games where people don’t quit are rather the exception.
my impression is that many people are too busy with their own controls and fights to see the bigger picture. they have this “see enemy, run at enemy” way of fighting, which often leads to entirely preventable defeats. actually it’s striking how easy the game seems when you have a coherent team vs one where everyone does something alone.
as for why they leave, i guess many are simply butthurt because they overestimate their abilities, or maybe they are after a penance like ASS.

Its just weird to see this happening in Havocs too. i dont remember people just leaving much but it seems to be a bigger thing now and not just that across all modes really. maybe a big influx of noobs? i have no clue.

That’s rookie grifting.

I must have stepped on someone’s toes because I occasionally get people joining who leave again when I press start mission. They accept, then leave immediately during loadout period. This almost guarantees a failed mission when it’s H40 with randoms.

There really should be an abort button during loadout period.

Pretty much & they must’ve remembered your name to leave your matches, which is crazy work if that’s true, maybe some personal vendetta, perhaps… Another thing that they’ll do now is go down & pretend like they D/C’d & come back 15-20 mins later & say; ‘Oh, I’m so sorry guys… etc.’ Just so that they save themselves the embarrassment of the down & get a free carry for the time they “D/C’d” allegedly. Now, that’s smart grifting, I’ve seen that one a few times as well, although very rare. They don’t fool me, SOB’s… Now, all they have to do is finish the rest of the mission having done virtually no work.

wtf thats pretty psychotic. what do they have your name saved in a text file on their desktop for this exact occasion to remember you? damn.

Some people are just broken and sad and we can only take pity on them.

every game mode at every difficulty has a lot of new players and they move into the higher difficulties asap apparently, brace yourselves

I have had this happen quite a bit with Auric Maelstorm missions before the expedition update.

I haven’t tried Auric Maelstorm again right now, i have been playing some other stuff.

During the time i did play Auric Maelstorm People would rush at the enemies, get In a bad spot and then DC.

I had one player complain “I dunno why you guys are so slow” and then DC, we were like 10 minutes into the mission.

I have yet to try havoc 40 so I don’t know how bad it will be for me when I get there.

It’s fairly normal in Aurics, it’s a pretty casual game mode in comparison, you just jump into a quick game, and leave if you have to. Havoc is a bit different as mission failures means you could lose your Havoc rank. I think we had very few people who left a Havoc mission, and never maliciously to my knowledge.

I’m not even convinced Fatshark is able to police this issue, as the game can be “pretty” unstable.

I have heard some people say Auric Maelstorm is pretty close to Havoc 20.

Plus, I personally can’t ever recall getting a replacement teammate when someone leaves on Maelstorm missions

I once played a Damnation Maelstorm mission and had everyone else rush in and get destroyed by maulers and then leave.
I tried to continue the Mission but never got any replacement teammates and ended up getting swarmed by maulers while trying to grab the special ammo canisters to finish the mission.

paddling

Yeah, it is absurdly common in Aurics. Which really sucks because it often crashes my game when people leave mid-match.

its wild that this isnt a thing yet… fatshark what if people screw you over? i guess the devs didnt think that through.

see if these help.

it’s stupid though to lose a deployment because of such trolls.

The fact that Auric is pretty much unplayable with randoms, because there is a quitter in almost every match and backfill STILL doesnt work, and now people are quitting Havoc shows that any sort of “serious” gameplay is dead and people have absolutely zero respect for their or other’s time.

This is true not only for Darktide, but almost every online game where you have to actually put effort to win. My GF plays Marvel: Rivals in ranked (lol), and there is a griefer/thrower/leaver in almost every match, and the issue is worse the higher your rank gets. Also there was a drama involving unknown streamer named Kingsman, who is very good at the game and wanted to win a tournament to pay for his Uni. Unfortunately, he had a streamer team who just sabotaged any chance to win, for example picking the worst hero in the game (Widow, hitscan sniper with 200 ping lmao), and refusing to switch because playing to win would “ruin the vibe”. He also got fake harassment report and kicked from the tournament for asking to play to win, which backfired immensely. My take is not that “woman bad” which often goes with the video, but that actual “play to win” gameplay in RANKED modes, such as Havoc, is dead and sabotaging/griefing is the socially accepted norm now. Can you imagine seeing so many leavers and griefers 10-15 years ago in games such as KF1, L4D2, etc?

We NEED stricter punishments for leaving and throwing, as well as unlimited block list. It’s borderline insane that typing a mean word is a bannable offence apparently, but wasting people’s time isn’t.

Every single time somebody left was from a down that was their fault in the first place. I’ve never left in Havoc’s even if I went down for whatever reason. I wait patiently for the revive. I suppose that I have more compassion/consideration for the team because if somebody leaves, it’s almost a guaranteed wipe just about, unless you have at least a few god-like players which doesn’t happen that often in Pug’s, for sure. It’s kind of weird seeing people leave like that in this mode. I suppose that I don’t experience it that often being from a pre-made. I’d accept it in Auric’s, but not Havoc’s… I guess I’m just wrong about it expecting more from players in higher leveled content, lol. They just expect a win with no skill or effort? A participation trophy rather. Getting downed isn’t even a big deal because even sweatlords go down from random bullsht or legit mistakes. It’s all a part of the game in the end. Now, I know that the main big punishment for leaving is being locked out of Havoc until the game ends in a wipe or a win. I’m willing to bet most games are a wipe when they lose 1 person, so basically, they’re not locked out long enough for it to be any REAL kind of punishment/impact. Somebody did have an idea where instead of the mission ending once you lose, maybe have an actual time-based punishment… Like, let’s say 5-10 mins every time you leave matches prematurely. So, the more you leave games the more time will stack, which is interesting… This would most likely guarantee a-holes not ruining your games & even if somebody has to leave hypothetically for emergencies instead, that’s fine… Because by the time they come back to play more games, that timer would most likely be up by the time they come back if that makes any sense. So, it’s really a win-win for everybody & it would actually punish people that abuse this. I believe that this was @Frish’s idea or rough interpretation of that. I’m paraphrasing of course, because it’s been a while, I apologize.

they have thin skin in game

timeout from Havoc doesnt do anything because people just quit after someone leaves, ye, there should be extended timeouts that stack
