Harmony in Endgame: The No-Kick Policy in Darktide's Closing Moments

I’ve once again been griefed by trolls who use the kick mechanic at the final event. There’s a pattern here too. They are always buddied up. They always never say anything in the game chat. They are always happy to benefit from your hard work to keep the match going. They always wait until the last possible moment to kick you. Essentially, they ensure it’s safe for them to kick you (no chance of the run going south) while maximizing the grief it causes you. (Wasting as much of your time as possible)

So once again, I’m here begging Fatshark to disable the vote to kick mechanic for the final event. This behavior is extremely passive-aggressive and an unhealthy community interaction, the trolling/griefing needs to stop.

Here are some reasons as to why it would be healthy and beneficial to disable the vote to kick at the final events.

  1. Prevent Exploitation: Near the end of a match, players may exploit the kick mechanic to disrupt the flow of the game, troll others, or create a less enjoyable experience. Disabling kicking prevents potential abuse of the feature.

  2. Encourage Fair Play: In the closing moments of a match, maintaining fairness and a level playing field becomes crucial. Disabling kicking prevents players from unfairly removing others, ensuring that the outcome is determined by the game’s mechanics rather than disruptive behavior.

  3. Ensure Strategic Integrity: The disabling of the kick mechanic ensures that strategic decisions made by players throughout the match remain intact until the end. This promotes a sense of consistency and integrity in the gameplay experience.

  4. Enhance Immersion: Near the end of a match, maintaining immersion becomes crucial for a satisfying conclusion. Disabling the kick mechanic helps players stay focused on the game’s objectives and narrative, preventing unnecessary distractions.

  5. Minimize Griefing Opportunities: Griefing and trolling can be more prevalent in the closing stages of a match as players might seek to disrupt the experience for others. Disabling the kick mechanic minimizes opportunities for griefing.

  6. Prevent Unwanted Expulsions: With the kick mechanic disabled, players won’t be unexpectedly removed from the game in the crucial final moments, allowing them to fully participate in the climax of the match without interruptions.

The only downside is you might get that one player who refuses to board the ship, wanting to waste other people’s time. Nothing is perfect. But yeah that is horrific behavior that you’ve experienced.

  1. No kicks once the final event begins.
  2. Match auto-ends 30 seconds after someone enters the ship.

Ez.

That too is a horrific passive-aggressive behavior, I’ve heard it happen where two buddies won’t board a ship until the random agrees to kick the unlucky fellow “they” dislike.

That too can be prevented by allowing the match to end within 60 seconds as long as one person is inside the elevator or dropship.

They had both systems in place for Vermintide 2, and it did work to prevent both kinds of griefing. So I know Fatshark can do it. So I’m begging Fatshark to do the same for Darktide.
