Is it just me, or does the mini-game seem a bit too straightforward and random?
It feels like all you have to do is test every position until you get it right (just waiting for the visual and sound cues). Personally, I’ve found it kinda dull because there’s no real skill involved, no room for quick thinking or clever guesses.
I totally get that these mini-games need to be easy enough for everyone to enjoy (not being too annoying), but this one feels a bit too basic (?). It’s like it’s just there to slow things down artificially rather than add to the fun of the event.
Anyone else feel the same?
they should have done it on more maps like refinery delta. maybe make one that’s tetris or something. the default one needs variety badly.
this change just wrecked a fun event for another derivative servo skull style one, big marks off. the new environment and phage tree dialogues along with it getting wounded by the event are kinda cool but doing it with what’s basically the servo skull but disguised is lame. ruined my favorite map you did. game needs less ‘sit here and wait and try to keep a guy from getting un-hit temporarily’ events. they are absolutely garbage to play with randoms, they are way too boring with coordination the entire event is just ‘wait’. aka they aren’t fun or well designed.
Yeah I get that they have to keep it quite simplistic but at least the code thingy has some very basic timing involved. If the symbols are close when the line switches you have a chance to make it fast or miss the mark and wait for the selection box to highlight the symbol again.
It’s not much but at least there’s that. Not here (unless I’m really missing something).
So yeah, it’s just wait here, call your friends to defend, then go on until the next random failure.
It’s allegedly difficult to spice up those events while not annoying people with what they didn’t sign for (playing mini-games instead of fighting). But, I’ll prefer un basic Tetris to be honest, indeed.
I’m not sure how they could make this current mini-game more interesting. Maybe with subtle visual cues that you could miss to select the correct visual node, some sort of radar wave that would make the correct node more noticeable, sound cues are tricky with all the mess around us, there must be something to improve this.
Came here after googling for it. I only had a one chance to try it and obviously got interrupted, but had no clue what to do. Still don’t tbh.
Hab Dreyko has been the only map on my shidd list forever, on account of heavily favoring melee (I usually play ranged), and bc of the overdone spawns in the end. I can’t even count the times that last phase took forever in pubs because I was the only one trying to decrypt on my dainty psyker with everything spawning all over me, trying to avoid soundless bugged trappers as I did, while the rest of the team was all over the place just killing the infinite horde.
But after 1 match, I really enjoyed this new version! It forces the team to stay together, and the atmosphere with those new textures & changes making the place seem alien and horrifying as heck is really pog!
Well, ran into it on an Auric mission with PUG … didn’t really had time to divine what I was supposed to do as poxwalkers were chewing on my backside. … So not straightforward enough
Haha, I totally feel ya! First time jumping into the reworked Hab Dreyko was also an Auric hi-int shock troop gauntlet. Quite a busy little area to play meep meep I’m the tree chemist.
Maybe they could jazz up the display a bit, make it more intuitive. I mean, just randomly poking dots? Not exactly the pinnacle of efficiency, am I right?
The sad thing is some people will try to trivialize a mini game even if (or maybe cause) there are some skill involved. Like that mod for hacks that allow you to see all symbols that will be highlighted for catching.
I personaly like this new one, played Dreyko for two times after the update, but feels this new mini game takes longer and so more dangerous.
what exactly do we even have to do in this one? Only tried this missions once and it was STG and we failed at the tree. Only got to try it out for like 10 seconds and didn’t get it to work
Well that’s another example that the mini-game is too random and unintuitive. Several players already mentioned it was confusing and it’s certain many more around didn’t get what to do.
DaiShi linked his post asking for the same question:
To sum it up:
use WASD to move between the circles/dots
wait until the selected dot shows a color (there’s also a sound cue): RED = bad, not-RED = press button to validate this one
Do you know if its hard bound to WASD, or just to what ever you have bound for movement? Tried this on high intensity shock gauntlet on auric damnation and it took us over 15 mins fighting around the tree before someone worked it out. I tried twice and couldnt get it to do anything at all, but i dont use WASD. I swear i didn’t get any tool tips either, but there were a lot of distractions. Could they put the new puzzle in the meat grinder to test outside of a game? I was shitting myself we would die and i’d lose my 5 game deathless auric streak
