Game is in a bad place for me to have fun

The game is in a bad place for me. I log on, warm up on an Auric Maelstrom and then … quit because there’s nothing else to do.

Party finder is regularly empty for me. Listing my Havoc assignment generally pulls in a lot of lower level folks that I would be fine to play with, except we have this dumb DERANK thing which makes me not want to play the co-op game with other people (great design) since then I won’t be able to play the difficulty I want.

I’m not at 40 this season (unlike all the past ones) as most of the people in my pre-made peaced out on Havoc after we lost a ton of games due to full team crash to desktops, “mission aborted”s, and Error Code NNNN issues. They just said “screw this, I only have so much time to play games, so I’ll play one that doesn’t fail”. Very reasonably. On top, they were already tiring of the grinding game the Healing modifier creates (especially when paired with Rotten Armour).

This means I’m usually in pubs. In my region / time I can play, that means a couple at 40 + a couple in the 20s or lower, and most often “No Available Parties Found”. 30s are rare.

Havoc 20s aren’t that exciting aside from “what will this pub clown show be like?” +3 wound Psyker and stealth knife zealot? Cool. Let’s see if we can get past the 5 minute mark. Also, even when we win, I don’t rank up. So, not helping me out on letting me play the difficulty I enjoy.

Havoc 40 is often a different kind of a clown show because since people can’t derank, they often don’t run the meta (which, damn, I completely understand as I’m burned out on it too), but it means wipes are common. Have I mentioned how dumb DERANK is? So, I tend to avoid playing those because it’d be nice to not just keep tanking the Havoc rank I’m allowed to start when I decide to roll the pub dice.

So, yeah. I launch the game, play a maelstrom, and .. quit. If there’s a string of C-I-VI and/or I-II-VEG then it’s a special day and I play a bunch because I still enjoy playing those with different and weird builds. But, again, I can’t just choose to play that difficulty.

If a friend does come on, Duo Auric Maelstrom is also still fun. But .. yeah, that’s also a special day.

Game’s in a bad spot for me.

Take a break and come back when content drops, this is what the devs want.

Other games are fun, I’m currently playing Soma if you want a spooky single player experience to wishlist for a sale. (I like to imagine its dark mechanicus origin story or something of the sort to tie it into 40k)

That seems to be what’s happening naturally. :slight_smile: I got Days Gone during the Autumn Sale and it’s great. That’s what I go play after doing my single auric maelstrom.

Soma is wild. I played it a long time ago, though never finished! Maybe time to revisit. That game gave me goosebumps. Possibly the most atmospheric game I’ve played.
