Game is almost impossible to play due to extremely frequent crashes and infinite loading screens

Stuck on Loading Screen

Issue Description (Required):

It currently requires divine intervention just to reach the Mourningstar. The main issues are:

  • Extremely frequent occurrences of being stuck on loading screens (can happen on all loading screens)
  • Very frequent occurrences of being stuck on a black transition screen when the loading screen fails to load
  • Very frequent crashes on start-up including but not limited to crashes involving shaders failing to load
  • Crashes to desktop from the Ready Up screen
  • Crashes to desktop during mission (rarer but happen)

Things I have tried to fix these issues:

  • Restarting computer
  • Verifying files through Steam and the Darktide Launcher
  • Doing a clean re-install of Darktide
  • Updating graphics drivers
  • Reinstalling C++ Redistributles
  • Reinstalling GPU drivers

These issues have been occurring ever since the big update in February of this year but were much less frequent until the past few weeks where they now occur so frequently the game is virtually unplayable. I believe some is due to internet issues but I can play other games with no issues. On the rare occasions I can get into a mission the game runs fine however currently it seems like there is a 99% chance of one of these issues occcuring every time I launch the game.

Could you try the two solutions listed here, please?:

Changing the DNS can be quite successful in this scenario.

This may not help with the crashes, but can look in to those afterwards.

Neither of these solutions worked unfortunately.

It’s honestly freakish how random the load times are. Very rarely I will instantly load, and other times I may be stuck on the eternal loading screen post mission.

IF you guys want to see something real whacky, I was helping a friend do the orthus campaign… every time we tried it, it would load almost instantaneously for all 4 players… buuuut if we went back to doing normal missions, same old standard load times.

Are you able to connect your PC to a mobile hotspot, only briefly, to see if it works? This can help to isolate the issue, but I recognise this isn’t always an option.

The best I can do is connect wirelessly to my home internet network, however that also did not seem to have any noticeable effect. The farthest I got was the loading screen to load into a mission but that just hung endlessly (I let it go for a couple of minutes).
