First Red Item

I’ve never played Huntsmen, so I’m not sure how to run the bow or if this is any good. Still it looks cool, so I’ll certainly give it a shot.

Like 90% of the weapons in this game are “good” and even in cataclysm there are people who can solo every level with pretty much any weapons. What matters more is what weapon you can handle with an adequate degree of competence.

With that being said… I hate the Longbow personally and I dislike playing Huntsman in general as I see it as the most bland career.

It has by far the worst zoom in mechanic in the game compared to other long ranged weapons.

The only objectively trash weapon in this game is the Repeater Pistol as it’s a jack of no trades and a master of disappointment.

Elf 1h axe is right there too, awful against hordes, not awful against armor but also not in her top 5 of “use vs armor” either.

Weapon handles really badly for no reason. has the same problems as daggers but is worse at everything except stagger. Which barely matters since neither cleaves so most things do not get staggered anyway. And the daggers are faster with better general damage by a long shot.

can i have your illusion thanks i’ve opened dozens and dozens of emperor’s vaults on kruber

I’d say it’s a hard weapon and class for a newcomer. Huntsman is hyperfocused on headshots, so you had to land them reliably, otherwise class barely works. But it should be much better on legend.

As for long bow. It’s very important to have good damage brake points.
Your goal here is to reach as many one-shot brake points on important targets, without headshots or crits.

Important targets being:
Specials > Storm vermin > Berserkers
Those are enemies, with low enough health to reach those break points, by various means.

Various means being:
Power vs x > ult > Potion of power
Those are means that you have the most control of and can gain by your self most often.
When figuring breakpoints against elites, I recommend always take ult power in to account.

I’d suggest you to experiment on training dummies, or even go on modded realm and spawn actual enemies by mod. That if you want to waste so much time on longbow like me in the past.

Useful info:
Armored training dummy have “Skaven” and “Armor” classes.
Unarmored training dummy have “Chaos”(not sure, mb skaven) and “Infantry” classes.

Longbow have 3 power stages of an attack, you want to shoot from stage 2 (half drawn) and 3 (fully drawn).

Here is a break point calculator that I just found: https://manshanko.github.io
It is lacking some features and info, from the old one. I also Don’t know how accurate it is.
But according to it, having Power vs skaven x2 and Power vs infantry x2 is the most optimal against specials on legend, however you are losing +5% weapons speed on your trinket, which might be important for your melee weapon.

This setup can one-shot Chaos warriors on legend, BTW. Can even One-head-shot them on cata.
