Finally time for single-player?

Now with the itemization rework done, another big promise has been delivered. Is it now time to work on another big promise that has been waiting for years now?

I know that not too long ago the official statement was “no high priority” but maybe priority has now shifted upwards.

I myself am waiting impatiently for a real single-player mode and am constantly hoping for at least an announcement that work on it has begun.

I don’t see them spinning up AWS instances just for one player. They could allow local play, but then that would introduce issues with saving progress, as this aspect would be more exposed to client side tampering / cheating.

So basically use mods if you want a challenge:

If you want character progression, then I’m sorry you might have to play with at least one human in a coop game.

I think I’ve seen this mentioned also, though IDK as I’ve not tried it:

Some work on the bots, and “bots cover me for 1 minute while I do xyz” modes, would be welcome.

as the CM has mentioned multiple times, this game is a co-op game, so implementing a solo play mode is a low priority and unlikely to happen. one of the reasons is that solo play can already be achieved through mods.
rather than focusing on solo play, i would like to see them prioritize adding more content first

instead of a solo mode, i’d prefer ability to play with Peer to Peer connection, so that you can still play with friends at least, in case one day servers may shut down (which i doubt  )

in L4D2 for example you can either play through official dedicated servers or through local game (p2p) aka self hosted games

local sessions just for friends would be cool for something more complex, such as modded realm version, where you could play like with more than 4 people, for example 32 ogryns, and increasing the difficulty, making the game more harder, or even refreshing, revamping talents, blessings and more.

many more try mod is the way but its still badly limited for solo use. we can only host scenarios that were on the board in the last 24 hours, matchmaking flags for non-maels are still up for like an hour after one goes off the board, every time you set a lobby up it waits for almost 2 minutes connecting to no players because it still uses that matchmaking feature (so re-trying is an absolute slog). I find its more of a giant enhancement for playing with friends pulling up things that would actually provide some more gameplay for 2+ coordinating experienced players.

solo mod is the best, literally just because going right back into the action is all I want and I have no use for materials. the performance is a lot better too on the local host, no jinky stuff.

If theres a mod for solo mode, why need an official solo mode? You’re just gonna be by yourself anyway. Is there any other reason besides being able to run the game offline? Jw.

Well there’s people that don’t want to mod for their reasons and console players. Particularly I think you’d want somewhere for low level players to just get carried by a bot-bodyguard since even when I was playing on a new Psyker like 2 months ago I saw level 100+ people there for whatever reason sprinting to the end in like 8 minutes. Kinda hard for them to learn the game when that is a thing.

They were probably doing melk missions but ye i forgot about console mfs.

i would love to see this, ive got a few penances that require a private game.

One thing I’ve been curious about: would bots be able to solve the mini-games?

I’ve never played solo, but surely you’re gonna get whacked trying to do it on your own with only bot coverage? I take it people are just planning on playing those maps without those mini-game mechanics otherwise?

thats a good point.

so far bots have been “ok” by just soaking up damage and keeping the mobs occupied until i kill em off.
that being said i never had a point where at reaching a mini game point bots haven´t been replaced by at least one player.

in terms of getting stuff off my back as ogryn i guess bots would be good enough for me to speed through an auspex scan :man_shrugging:

then again most pure solo runs had almost always stealth zealots on them, vet has partial stealth as well, psyker and oggy get shafted ?

I agree with you.

You can do it on a PC with a mod (many more tries). It was promised, they need to deliver it.

Also, they just need one change to allow this, just to permit to go private alone.
And if they want to make it better, they can allow us to play with our bots (there is a mod that permits it with solo mod).

But, be advised that bots have good points, and very bad.
As I pointed, playing solo is good for ammunitions, bots are the best against a demon host, they can handle melee fights… but they suck once a bomber come (they stay in middle of flames) can be buggued sometimes (they don’t move forward), suck at DPS, you cannot give them a grimoire a medikit etc, you have to hack every times yourself, you have to carry the objectives yourself and all of them (special mention to the special ammunition mission I did yesterday) etc.

Are we sure they are still private? if yes, a bug must be reported cause nothing in the description mention it.
I have this problem also if yes… soon I will have to complete Ogryns/psyker penances… so I may post a bug report on this.

(I am currently completing stupid veteran penance related to keystones… after staying crouched an entire mission, now I have to use a revolver to land a critic when specialist keystone triggers. Veteran keystones are totally stupids and the penances related to them are above the term “stupid”)

im not sure im waiting for me bro to lvl up a bit before i try them its these two

Darktide is a coop game. Maybe look for a single player game?

I think what I find interesting about the solo mode is they specifically said it was almost done but wanted to do a few tweaks, and should be out shortly after release.

So like, how much effort would it be to actually just finish? Did they lie about the current state? Did they run into a hard roadblock that would take more time to finish than anticipated and gave up? I just don’t get how an “almost done, it should be out in a couple weeks” goes to “yeah it’s not happening anymore”

Personally I don’t care much for a solo mode, I also don’t particularly subscribe to “they promised!” as things change over time. If they decided to cancel the feature that’s fine, but I’d like to see a proper explanation behind it. Unless we get a VT2 vs situation, where suddenly solo mode will pop up in another 3 years

It’S a Co-Op GaMe!

So were Smackrat 1 and 2. Still didn’t stop me from playing solo when my friends weren’t around. As for the “Spinning up a server for a single player” Well maybe you shouldn’t have made the game a live service scam.

There are some tasks in the penance system that are detrimental to team play… its a weird problem with this game that some of the penances require private games or cause you to play in a way that spoils things for other random people /shrug

They need to either take a look at the penance’s again or allow people to create a single player game with bots to try and get the more awkward ones done I think.

Highkey though, playing a co-op game solo must be some of the saddest shi a gamer can do cuz I too can feel that pain.
