Feedback Regarding Monetization and Launch State

I like the skins and have some interest in them.

If the means of purchasing them were more like Vermintides - that is to say, I could look at the full roster of non-time gated skins at my leisure, and pay using actual currency in exacting amounts, I would absolutely be more likely to partake in your cosmetic marketplace. The ability to earn currency in game to spend on a limited range of cosmetics is similarly sorely missed.

Less aggressive monetization and predatory FOMO sales tactics would be welcome, and a substantial consumer friendliness improvement over the system we see today.

There’s a balance to be struck, i’m sure, but clearly past (less aggressive) monetization was profitable enough for Fatshark’s continued success - so one assumes this turning of the screws is neither necessary nor the only option available.

It’s also speaks to some disappointing priorities given the fully functional and error-free cash shop is implemented for day 1 of “launch”, but core systems of the crafting system still have big shiny “COMING SOON!” banners.

This is obviously and indisputably unfinished, and shouldn’t be present in a 1.0+ released title.

Please actually finish and improve the functioning of your paid title, before you start hitting folks up for extra cash for skins - especially in the, admittedly not uncommon, yet somewhat-predatory manner in which you’re doing so.

All in all we’ve got the bones of a wonderful game - and much of the moment to moment gameplay is stellar - but it’s also unfinished, occasionally buggy and poor performing (moreso for some than others), lacking in some content that was stated, teased, or demonstrated but isn’t actually in the game at this time, and overall needs some balancing and tweaks.

All this culminates in a somewhat disappointing 1.0 launch, and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of players and longtime fans.

Please strive to do better, and de-prioritize milking your playerbase for all they’re worth at least until the core game part of the game is truly finished and ready.

Thanks.

There shouldn’t even be a “please” in your post.

FatShark, get it together and deliver on what was promised. Period. This shameful launch is EVEN FURTHER shamed by the fact that you made DAMN sure the Cash Shop was 100% functional.

Your moral compases must be spinning, because you couldn’t differentiate between a good decision and a markedly terrible one to save your lives at this point.

You did so well with VT2. What the hell happened?!

I don’t really like premium currency in games so I will just never buy it.
Any chance FS can sell the cosmetics in packs on the steam store because I don’t mind that.

I agree. Just a legitimate, honest transaction. VT2 did that just fine.

Tencent got its claws into them and hate-f*cked the integrity out of them

Thats my guess too. I lament that fact. What Tencent fails to realize, is that we’re not just talking about video games at this point. We’re talking about consumer culture and market expectations.

Yeah, I get that younger folks could care less. But for some of us in our 50s or better, we are insulted by what are obviously predatory practices. I mean, it all would have been easier to digest, if A: it wasn’t a full-priced game, and B: It was more feature complete. But neither A or B were true. So, this just comes across as incredibly tone-deaf, and cynically indifferent.

“FS, I guess you’re not as Pro-Player as you claim”

It’s sad that you can look two inches left and see DRG with a playerbase rushing eachother to buy every DLC they put out because they make a great game and have one of the best dlc/engagement models, and then see this launch.

Disappointing.

Needless to say, I won’t be buying anything else if it remains this way. I’ll be convincing my friends not to as well. We’ll play the game we bought.

I would also like to notice that we went from premium skin at 8$ and bundle at 25$ for five to 12$ per skin approximately.

I have brought for 50euro of skin for Vermintide. I won’t take a single one here until the game and the micro transaction make me think the team care about their game and reputation before the way to get money.

Fully agree, the Vermintide 2 monetization is way better.
This is predatory.
