I like the skins and have some interest in them.
If the means of purchasing them were more like Vermintides - that is to say, I could look at the full roster of non-time gated skins at my leisure, and pay using actual currency in exacting amounts, I would absolutely be more likely to partake in your cosmetic marketplace. The ability to earn currency in game to spend on a limited range of cosmetics is similarly sorely missed.
Less aggressive monetization and predatory FOMO sales tactics would be welcome, and a substantial consumer friendliness improvement over the system we see today.
There’s a balance to be struck, i’m sure, but clearly past (less aggressive) monetization was profitable enough for Fatshark’s continued success - so one assumes this turning of the screws is neither necessary nor the only option available.
It’s also speaks to some disappointing priorities given the fully functional and error-free cash shop is implemented for day 1 of “launch”, but core systems of the crafting system still have big shiny “COMING SOON!” banners.
This is obviously and indisputably unfinished, and shouldn’t be present in a 1.0+ released title.
Please actually finish and improve the functioning of your paid title, before you start hitting folks up for extra cash for skins - especially in the, admittedly not uncommon, yet somewhat-predatory manner in which you’re doing so.
All in all we’ve got the bones of a wonderful game - and much of the moment to moment gameplay is stellar - but it’s also unfinished, occasionally buggy and poor performing (moreso for some than others), lacking in some content that was stated, teased, or demonstrated but isn’t actually in the game at this time, and overall needs some balancing and tweaks.
All this culminates in a somewhat disappointing 1.0 launch, and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of players and longtime fans.
Please strive to do better, and de-prioritize milking your playerbase for all they’re worth at least until the core game part of the game is truly finished and ready.
Thanks.
