Feature Highlight - Skitarii Visual Design

Arguing about power scaling in darktide is really silly. The rejects have canonically taken on beasts of nurgle, chaos spawns, plague ogryns, the Karnak twins, all while killing countless troops AND having been entrusted by Hadron herself to go collect tech remnants out in the wastes. Anyone hanging on to the idea that we’re just weakling nobodies at this point is purposefully not paying attention to the direction of the story

Then that is what I would wish for FatShark to add if they are going to add Sisters of Battle to Dakrtide next. But then again, I wished for Fatshark to add a Tech-Adept instead of Skitarii, and look where we are now. They want to add the recognizable stuff, and Sisters of Battle are recognizable in their power armor.

What do you mean by that? How are they on the same power level as us? Becasue the lore says so? Becasue the board game statistics say so? What explains that “Actually, this warmachine is on the same level as a conscripted Guardsman”?

real
at some point when becoming mature acolytes we will be eventually even throne agents

me inquisitor already tho cause me strong i can do true duo havoc xd

Every weapon gotten from Brunt’s armory is supposed to be bad*. We then go to get it blessed by Hadron herself!!! If you’re going off of cutscenes, at least don’t be picky about it lol

I’ll allow it if I can be a Mister of Battle!

Why the skitty got no meat :wilted_flower:

:gear: skitten :gear:

We would easily kill space marines.

Until Calgar shows up

These options are sick af, are there any more option or will these be it?

I knew the talk about what we kill in-game would eventually appear here…

Canonically the rejects should just die when coming into contact with the Beast of Nurgle but they don’t. Why? You can just say “Videogame” but I believe that we can do better than that. I think we can take on a monster like the Beast of Nurgle and survive such things as being eaten by it because either the Beast is very young and weak or was badly summoned. The same thing can be applied to Demonhosts.

As to Plague Ogryns and Chaos Spawns, if you take a closer look at their designs, you’ll see that they were manufactured and not blessed/cursed by Nurgle. The Chaos Spawn has chains on its limbs and has canisters implanted into the skin. They are clearly humans who were slowly turned into the Beats instead of immediately turning and being pumped full of Warp Magic like a regular Chaos Spawn. Chaos Ogryns are only manufactured by chaos forces, pretty much the same thing here.

The problem with Darktide is the balance doesn’t reflect the story. In-canon. Karnak Twins are strong humans buffed by Nurgle, but they are not ultra Crackheads from the secret hard mode. Canonically we never face the amount of enemies we face on a regular Auric mission because it’s just not believable. I think a good point of comparison to a believable amount of enemies would be Vermintide 2, even on Legendary. That’s how many enemies I believe the rejects face on every mission, not the current mess that we have now due to balance issues causing enemy spam.

We can only survive in the Wastes due to Stims, and being “entrusted” by Hadron is because we are rejects, but we’ve done enough work to be trusted with stuff like this. Just how, with our trust level growing, we get access to more places on the Mourningstar.

The story says one thing while gameplay says another, and it’s annoying seeing people mix these two together because they are just not compatible right now.

even the community managers stopped calling us rejects in the dev blogs :sob:
because we are not rejects anymore xD

The worst thing is the Board Warhammer 40k agrees with this statement. A team of Guardsman, Zealot, Psyker and an Ogryn can easily kill a Chaos Nurgle Death Guard Space Marine.

I would be more worried about Malum Caedo.

Yeah, and what am I supposed to take away from this?

The game shows us the weapons are getting blessed but also underlines how they’re junk. So it’s blessed junk. Doesn’t change much unless you want to bring out the lore of the Omnissiah’s Blessings to argue otherwise, since I am not knowledgeable on this particular topic.

Put some respect on Nyra’s name too!

Huh, I actually didn’t notice that. Good catch.

Force Weapons, Plasma Weapons, Power Weapons, et cetera… those aren’t junk.

The fact that we’re getting them at all, and from an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest at that, indicates that we’re perfectly fine to be serving alongside Skitarii.

Skitarii are VERY MUCH expendable, and there seems to be misconceptions about specific Classes that lead to underestimations in terms of power level.

Like, people have it in their heads that Veterans aren’t on a similar power level to Skitarii because they’re “just Guardsmen” when they’re literally not Guardsmen. They’re Junior Officers (Corporals and Sergeants) and Weapons Specialists AT MINIMUM in order to be receiving some of the equipment that they do. The Cadian Veterans are even implied to be FORMER KASRKIN! Kasrkin are Cadia’s version of TEMPESTUS SCIONS!

“Junk” was a general term I used to describe damaged, used, broken weapons. Plasma guns may not be garbage, but going with what the game tells us in the armory cutscene, these are supposed to be heavily worn down equipment that many people used before us already.

The power level is determined by the writer and circumstance…its like Dungeons and Dragons sometimes. Literally in others (like a farmer killing a space marine with a spear).
