How should he (an ordinary player) help others learn to play?? Do you even understand what you’re talking about? I bet you are one of those gameruiners who quit 2-3 times in one game after falling or dying.
must be some sort of mindset in some people to join matches that are clearly out of their capabilities.
though i didn’t have true level installed back in dec/jan i must have been way over 100 before i even set foot in damnation out of concern to be underperforming and dead weight to the team.
little by little i was getting more comfortable with the physics, movement, perception of whats important at the moment (trapper>dog>bomber…) and using the map elements to my advantage.
some stuff by trial and error, some by monkey see, monkey do, but most importantly getting a “feel” for the game and that takes time.
fast forward until today and i start my first can of energy drink with auric maelstrom and having a blast.
thing about “teaching” is you cant teach someone unwilling to learn, for most people lack self reflection and a thrive to push past their limits.
whats frustrating is when the laid back mentality joins those willing to perform for performance sake, something that keeps me playing until the servers go down.
i don’t need a carrot on a stick to replay the map for the x-th time, the frenzy and flow of the game is something i was missing since playing hell revealed mega wad for doom 2 in the 90s.
which i occasionally play to this day, so much for longevity due to excellent game design.
i accept having passed my zenit for competitive fps, but that doesn’t stop me from putting the same motivation into any other game i come to love.
best thing to learn though would be an integrated feature to record all 4 perspectives at once and have a splitscreen review option.
so far i’m recording my pov with geforce experience and seeing others in the situation where things went south would be a godsend
dude i hate the playerbase as much as the next person but lol fs NEEDS to do something about this?
I use Daemonhosts in Heresy and lower as gauges of how much damage I can expect my team to do since that sets the pace of the match.
Just block and move on lol. Also unless youre running into the same bad players (in thag case see tip 1) the only common factor here is… Well you. Im not doubting your skills though im sure youre very good at this game. Posting on the forum because youre on a losing streak though? Thats not what a REAL gamer would do.
Ah good times… but yeah. I’ve had to park high intensity damnation for short time after power sword nerf (when they decreased number of “charges” on power sword from 2 to 1 /wo power cycler), because my fingers gave out…
People are super salty in every version of this game, Auric is no different, i’ve seen people call the guy reviving them “literal dogsh*t”
Regardless, OPs suggestion is silly, FS can’t do anything about player quality, and locking people behind weird gatekeeping measures is bad for the health of the game. DT is miles easier than VT2, and the added power creep of the new builds / weapon changes makes the content “borderline” trivial, on most difficulties. My best suggestion is just find some friends to play with, add people who perform well, and try to avoid pubs that you find problamatic.
Or, learn to embrace the suck. I’ll be honest I love wrangling monkies in my games, I have a blast when im constantly in high stress modes trying to fend of hordes to get the 7th revive on Captain Dumba$$, or a week or so ago, on my zealot, I had to last man standing 8 times in a single run, at one point vs double bosses, and frankly, that was the most fun i’ve had playing DT since launch, being forced to think on the fly is super rewarding. For example, at one point I was getting pushed into a corner, so I let a mutant grab me, just so he would throw me so I could reposition, to me thats fun, rewarding, and super cool.
Anyway! Good luck out there Varlet
Meh, I find the biggest problem with quickplay is the lack of communication. Everyone seems to think specials/shooters/elites/monsters is everybody elses problem to deal with.
Premades make the game too easy.
I’m not usually on these trains but I have to agree. I think several factors at play here.
Recent Xbox release so massively unbalanced skill across player base. Even if you think console has no disadvantages vs PC (always chuckle at this) you still have the fact XBOX players are so fresh. They haven’t had a year or more with the game and watched it grow through all the bugs, balance, metas etc. Ogryn wasn’t meant to DPS carry and that’s what I’ve been mostly relegated to in Maelstrom. Yet you’re still an Ogryn so you need to be tanky and deal with hordes too.
The talent rework. Before the rework, it was much easier to min-max your feats. I typically don’t use build guides and it’s been a lot of trial and error. Why does it have to be so convoluted? At least before I could swap my grenade type without having to remake my entire build.
Idiots. I’m still blown away when someone playing Maelstrom (and it’s often the hardest one because that’s mostly what I play) have no farkin clue about basic things like you need to free trapper victims ASAP and you can do it before they even land if you’re good. Had someone double take the ammo immediately after I emptied my Rumbler, standing on top of the crate. Maelstrom should be locked to completing every damnation mission, MINIMUM. And I think that should be per operative.
Maybe this game needs a forced tutorial for people who have it in their minds they’re “good at fps games so nothing but the hardest difficulty for me”.
Yeah people have different goals when playing DT when leveling or grinding gear it’s winning.
When your 300+ hours in its just trying to stay alive and get better because you basically got everything you need to win besides skill.
Winning a match doesn’t mean anything surviving insane situations is all that’s left.
