FATSHARK... Will you nerf also the fun? [HUNTSMAN nerfed too hard, but also SHADE and RANGER]

It’d allow skilled use to not lose ammo but not fire into a horde and gain tons of extra ammo per shot.

Second, ranged has barely any risk if anything melee should be much more effective if you can keep up both indefinitely which most ranged classes can.

Yes. Because almost any mechanic in this game is deliberately geared towards ranged play, it is not by accident.

Yeah that’s a load o bs right there. And you can’t just mindlessly spam all the time.

Not sure if people are misrepresenting things or they actually think melee players don’t routinely do as well as ranged players.

I’m not sure what more you want? Jesus to come down from the heavens with a new commandment stating VERMINTIDE 2 IS A MELEE FOCUSED GAME? Man it’s the devs just because ranged balance isn’t great doesn’t mean it’s not supposed to be melee focused.

I can and I have as a Waystalker with longbow. Aim head height and I might miss the first headshot but I’ll get the next two. Unless I’m spamming because I’m sitting by an ammo box it’s laughably easy to walk out of a horde with more ammo than I started with.

The only storm vermins that get close are the shields. I don’t lose ammo unless I’m bodyshotting a globadier, assassin or leech

I dunno about you but I’ve played matches with a bounty hunter, huntsman and beamstaff pyro where all I was doing was tagging along behind and killing the occasional leech or rat that popped up while they were dealing with the hordes before they even reached melee range.

Because it isn’t a melee focused game and making it such woud require changing the game in almost any aspect. If FS really thinks that melee is the focus of this game, they went a great deal out of their way to deliberately make any difficult challenge almost require you to have ranged dps.

The part where the devs have already significantly tuned down every ranged class combined with the fact that melee and ranged get comparable scores as is from players of comparable skill makes it pretty clear the “THIS IS A MELEE GAME!” mantra is bs. Melee action =/= only melee action. Not only that, but what you’re asking doesn’t even fit in the lore.

That’s pretty anecdotal evidence. I’m as aggressive as can be and skilled melee still press the frontline and keep their hands full.

Lastly, unless you’re talking exclusively about slayer, there’s no gd thing as a “melee” character. All the “melee” characters have exceptional ranged potential.

I read as answer only “melee focused game” or “he still is good”.
Here no one has said that he is garbage or that he should come back to 1.0.8… but just that he hasn’t anymore enough trade off in comparison with others ranged careers (that still have infinite ammunitions and still destroy ALSO hordes… so melee focused where?). But ehy, “an huntsman weaker than 1.0.7 is good because after 1.0.8 patch I hate him”. No one thought that he was op in 1.0.7.

Fatshark has made, with a small group, a GREAT game… but I don’t know if they have lost themself or if it is the fault of all these “nerf cries”… the lasts patches just are ruining the game (in fact we have the major number of threads about this)

There’s a difference between requiring ranged capabilities to deal with certain specials and requiring unlimited ranged capabilities which trivialize any difficult encounter.

I could press the front line but I’d be running solo 20 meters in front of the rest of the group.

What am I asking for that is somehow against the lore?

Well there is a pretty hefty difference between sienna or BH who can basically go the entire game without switching to melee and merc kruber who can only avoid losing ammo with headshots or reduce the rate at which he runs out of ammo

Of course there is. But as I have stated, they have backed themselves into a corner with how the game is set up on so many levels that changing the allegedly overpowered ranged meta would hit “melee characters” even harder and would overall hamper the flow of the game. I mean, if they could pull it off, more power to them. I’d rather see melee get more pronounced in certain areas, but this whole “trivialize any difficult encounter” thing find grossly exaggerated, not to mention that most difficult encounters are absolutely geared towards you taking care of them with ranged weapons (bosses, mass specials, mass elites).

Other classes have crowd control or other utility. However huntsman really is a slow shooting sitting duck without good burst damage. I mean compare him to the elf with her proper zoom and auto aim ultimate. He is a joke now. His cool down takes an age and does nothing now except blur the screen.

I really enjoy the ranged meta. It requires alertness, skill of aim and the fragility of your character can leave you vulnerable to a unlucky/bad spawn. Thats not to say melee isnt totally viable or fun also. Its great fun to tank lots of hordes or slice them up like sushi with the Slayer.

I dont understand why you want to restrict others from experiencing the game in different ways. If people want to only melee then get a melee focused team together plenty of viable melee builds now. Why spoil it for others who prefer ranged.

Look the aim isn’t to ruin the ranged careers but to force them to actually handle ammo management. Ammo should be almost infinite to them but not this easy to get. You like that you have to aim fast and precise but guess what every melee career has to do that too to get rid of specials.
