Funcom is an interesting example, because even in the absence of a community forum, they managed to receive the player sentiment from their DLC release and issued an apology with a clear plan to do better.
I’d be concerned that apologizing for failure is a social taboo in Sweden, but Arrowhead has managed it before. I’m starting to suspect there may be a problem with Fatshark’s culture in particular.
In all seriousness, it’s abnormal to accept preorders for a product, release that product in the state Darktide was in at launch, and not feel pretty bad about it. Yet for three years, their response has been relative silence and tone deaf content prioritization - really weird behavior.
I know they’re probably mostly concerned with short-term obligations to their newfound publishing owners, but in the long view this strategy of silence is sure to backfire. I wouldn’t buy any unique IP from them if there were even a whiff of potential problems with the game - and I’d certainly never suggest my friends do. I say that as someone who put serious hours into Lead & Gold.
