Or a full-rework of progression system and build creation. But if we would go for that, then one thing surely applies: removal of crafting locks is the best temporary band-aid.
Frankly, the changes announced in the last dev-post do not matter to me, as the crafting/progression successfully deters me from relaunching the game.
98% of players quitting didn’t budge them much, don’t see why the remaining 2% would. Either Fatshark learns to communicate and give the community what it wants or it goes under from the costs of maintaining this game, either or. Would be upset, but it’s their own fault.
I don’t think I’ve really ever really been bothered about limited weapon crafting, well apart from one time I spent 1m credits at Brunt to get three shotguns that I then bricked, that was irritating.
But other than that, not so much. Other things have irritated more. Melk quests. Instashot snipers. Flying dogs. Those early post beta crashes. 30 rifle variants but only one flamer.
But just that it’s taken 12 months and they’re still fiddling with this system. And still no nearer! Rome burned long ago. And yet they’re still ekeing out tiny changes, holding on to this idea that players enjoy a mmo pve style grind that… I don’t know. Who’s it for?
Really. Who is happy with it? No one. Just so much energy wasted on this. And tbh, I have just lost interest now in playing the (IMO underdeveloped) 9 or 10 missions over and over.
I don’t understand the priorities chosen. Or the sheer lack of output. Clearly this wasnt meant to be a long burning game.
Look. It’s simple.
Fatshark is developing the Xbox port. That’s why there’s essentially no progress. This is what happens with every single one of their games.
Once the port comes out there will be actual progress. Until then the interns and potted plant are in charge of ‘development’.
Are you aware that death spitter gives actual power, not only adding damage but also increasing cleave? 1 stack takes agrip from penetrating 1 poxwalker to penetrating 2. Do you know what +50% targets hit does to your DPS/clear speed?
Edit: oh yeah being power while fire frenzy is damage also makes those two blessings multiplicative with each other. Those two together is honestly just a HEAP more DPS
I agree with your general point to be clear. I think it’s missing the point when people talk about chances of getting all perfect perks and blessings, the point is some weapons really really care about the right blessing combo, some barely care about blessings, getting a usable version of a lot of weapons for sure gets a heap easier after this patch.
But yeah just wanted to point out while brauto is indeed good out the box, I disagree blessings don’t matter for it. Heck even stripped down makes you run at knife speeds with a brauto which is pretty high tier for a non damage blessing.
Also you have some blessings that might be mandatory for a playstyle. On Ogyrn guns I consider inspiring barrage to be MANDATORY. That leaves me with only one blessing slot to work with, and if I can’t pick what’s in it, I have problems. I can get by, but not anywhere near as well.
So far I’ve been unable to get it for ripper, only the twin machine gun.
On Trauma Staff, I’ve found Warp Flurry to be the most important blessing, as it reduces charge time by up to 50%. Also it procs off any shot, so a micro charge hit followed by more serious attacks brings it up to a place that I can work with. (Start with micro charges to stagger and then move up to full circles to do your killing.)
It staggers most even with a slight charge, but doesn’t hit quite hard enough without the perks being good too, so far I’ve preferred unarmored and flak + dmg, but I know many others prefer maniac specific. I’d like to try that too… but I can’t afford it. Again, that leaves me with one mandatory blessing, and I’m stuck with whatever the other one turns out to be.
And since it takes a ton of plasteel to get one to orange, every single one I build is a massive time investment. If I get something that can’t work, I’m out all that grind. To get one I can experiment with, I have to both chance on a staff with warp flurry and decent perks, and fat chance of that happening, as it’s a moderate investment to get it to blue (only way to get above blessing mk2 on the mandatory blessing) or push to orange (even bigger risk.)
This change in the locks is ‘better’ but it’s also not good enough.
@FatsharkCatfish
Here is another excellent video that perfectly puts into words how insane it is that we still have an aspect in the game not a single person has enjoyed about DT in 9 months.
Goes to show really defeats the point of content creators program.
5-7 maps - He has already gone through all the maps in previous videos.
Don’t think he will get alot of subscribers if he dedicated his channel to DT and one video per month. As that is how long to get weapon with wanted 2 perks and 2 blessings and good stats.
Worse is that he even said it is same process, 2 locks before and 2 locks after. So not actually a video promoting positive light over it either. Opposite effect, a video on YouTube showing something negative.
“I don’t understand the logic” and “Everybody hated it”
“Retainiing locks to maintain players” - He mentions it is having opposite effect, bleeding them off faster.
“Gacha system, feels bad to lose something you built”
Zero challenge. It isn’t difficult, not considered a challenge, just really inflates play time
Before anyone says he is some low level YouTuber. YouTube search Darktide builds and it is his channel that pops up in search alot. Same thing people do and they will see his videos “promoting” it.
The other YouTubers in the search focus on Total War Warhammer games and just wanted a quick side content and move on with Total War series. No interest in going deeper.
I wonder how many people are in content creators program. I see there hasn’t been anything posted on DT blog spotlighting any content creator.
Yeah, he mentions something that I’ve been putting out there the whole time, there is no real RNG mitigation, there’s no guarantee or pity or bad luck protection in the rolls itself and all the mitigation systems just push the RNG to other layers.
Even f2p and p2w gacha games understand they have to give players something they want every now and then.
And all its hypothesis are false.
You don’t have 25% odds to get a T1 blessing with a 380 weapons.
They have just calculated the number of combinations and used that to calculate something… however this is not the real probabilities.
This is the same for perks. Until now, we could refine the weapons and curios. Everybody playing should have seen that higher is the quality of your weapon, easier it is to find a T4 or a T3 perk. You never see a T1 on a 380 weapon when refining.
Also, I suspect that the odds are adjusted for the rare blessings (like PC).
All of this just means we cannot calculate the odds like that… only someone that would see the code behind the crafting and can translate it in probabilities could.
You have summarized the situation… however they don’t want to listen to.
They are surely solutions to their problem. But, off course, FS won’t change entirely the game system.
As locks will remain… I am not sure it is worth the time to continue the discussions about something that won’t happen with people that don’t play the game.
well exactly my point id view that as upgrading your gear, if it takes 1 or 8 shots to kill the target your not changing your build just how well equipped you are.
im not saying perks dont do anything i just dont see how they change a build. i dont see why they are needed for trying a build, perfecting a loadout sure.
say i want to play a slab shield oggie im going to rely on sustain more than dodging so im going chained heavy attacks confident strike might be viewed as pivotal , but thrust would be just an improvement, and no perk is required they just help me hit break points, which is great but not required to try the build.
The thing is, if I take a weapon that takes 3 shots to kill a crusher, then I can take a melee weapon that is better against hordes.
If I have the same ranged weapon but am missing the carapace perk and now it takes 7 shots to kill a crusher, now I might consider taking a melee weapon that kills him faster.
Not having the correct perk here has an effect on my build choice.
It’s not exactly a night and day difference but you cannot deny that taking a different melee weapon is “chaning your build”
Then why are you still feeding the discussion?
Seems contradictory…
There’s no shifting in goalpost. All I have been saying since the start is that just the way that blessings influence your buildchoices, there are situations in which perks will alter how you put your build together.
Pointing that out to someone that seems to disagree is nothing sinister ^^
Wait how the heck could lacking a 25% damage perk take you from 3 shots to 7? I feel like I must be misunderstanding you quite a bit here. Could you please explain your thinking?
