Fatshark please balance your game

Sorry, the entire budget is going into pretending to patch poxbursters

I think people are sleeping on this a bit. If you have arc maul or transonic blades to deal with crushers, an infantry auto gun setup right with redline and combat doctrine hip firing wipes the screen. This is the only time in the game I have liked using an autogun.

But overall agree.

It’s because people need 3 things. 1, accessible weapons. This is a multifaceted thing. For example, combat knife isn’t accessible because it can legitimately cause carpal tunnel syndrome. That alone can kill it regardless of how simple it is to use otherwise. 2, simple combos. A lot of this comes down to consolitis and bad weapon combo design. But, for instance, I can’t handle alternating light and heavy attack. It’s too easy to mess it up because of imprecise timing and hold-to-heavy. If the cadence gets disrupted then your entire AoE or single target combo is a complete disaster. This one is as simple to solve as ‘Man, I wish heavy attack was simply a separate button from light attack!’ And 3, if the weapon can’t do ‘everything,’ then once a build is incapable of solving a problem due to E.G. getting surrounded, it falls apart. Doesn’t matter how good the weapon is outside of X situation if it falls apart under pressure when you desperately need to clutch up. Devil Claw flat can’t clutch half as hard as other options.

When you throw in those things you end up with weapons like the skitarii power sword, where it’s just not really usable for most people because it’s clunky for the sake of it, and vermintide is still designed both with consoles in mind and with cumbersome controls and constant repetitive clicking. You can like bad weapons all you want (and there’s certainly worse weapons than the devil claw) but at the end of the day the problem is how the weapon interfaces with the game and the demands the game places on the player and buildcraft as a whole.

Hell, if someone needs to look up a guide just to understand how to use the weapon, as is the case with the skitarii power sword, that’s proof positive of a pretty major design flaw in the weapon as well. The game does not properly explain its combos to players. Even space marine 2 has (poorly accessible) combo lists for weapons, you just need to be in a match (or go into the PVP training area and hope combos don’t change) to see what the devs intend.

“Weapons that have complicated moveset are bad because skill issue. All weapons should excel at everything otherwise bad design”

Cool opinion

I agree most of your opinion, I think fatshark dont need buff every weapon to as powerful as boltgun or veteran powersword, but at least they should make them useful in n5 difficulity. For example Vigilant Autogun, these 3 guns is completely useless for 3 years, they were so useless people even wont use them in n3 difficulty

also fatshrak do have ability design balance weapon, like power falchion, they have a good moveset and acceptable damage, which make them useful and fun but dont as OP as veteran powersword

rage bait used to be entertaining, now its ever repeating “gimme cause i suck/think of the children” all over

not even much effort in it :man_shrugging:

For example, I’m playing. Three out of five consecutive games where I earned Auric Storm Survivor, I played with the tactical axe. And I also successfully completed three missions in a row — H21, H22, and H23 — with the tactical axe. There’s just one catch: my damage is often three times worse than the top damage dealer in the match

I used to use it before they gave a small amount of powered cleave to the other one, haven’t used it since then.

yea and tbh if i wanna play thammer i’d use crucis

another weapon that is not very used is ds2
people either use ds5 or ds4 but never ds2

some weapons kinda forgotten cause they are not unique

I agree with your opinion, especially vigilant autogun, I cant understand why fatshark designed them so weak and have no characteristic

Vigilant autogun really need some more love.

Not for DT, but maybe DT2, I hope FS thinks about some sort of wargear point buy system. So weapons don’t need to be balanced with each other as much. The balance comes from the cost to equip them and bless them. A bolter should be ‘better’ than a revolver, but it would cost a little more so you have to save points somewhere else.

yeah I was hoping that would be part of the skill tree, weapons that are more average in performance could cost you less equip points, and big bruisers for killing all types of enemies would be higher. Make it ‘requisition resources’ or something to explain why its affecting the armory and your inherent Emperor-given buffs you can activate in game.

haven’t you previously made threads complaining about people using combat knives to sprint through missions?

according to your own logic you should just stop whining, they’re not cheating bro they just use the fast weapon for fun

obviously it’s bad logic, because there is an objective aspect of “x is too strong/fast and makes me feel like shitt for using y because the weapon physically cannot keep up with that”

cool concept, i would love if they implemented progression this way instead of shoehorned rpg stats also. would actually make a lot of sense, reject doesn’t get access to the high ticket items but can eventually afford more and better equipment

god forbid something has a learning curve and has friction in it- or even worse… experimentation??? learning through use???

he must have not been around when fatalities in mortal kombat 1/2 were a deeply guarded secret :squinting_face_with_tongue:

It’s like the only part of skit I actually enjoy.

DS2 has design identity caused by power creep. Buffing the hitmass 50% on lights for dueling and not buffing the hitmass of the sweep heavy only made it fall to useless, even when they caved and shored its stab heavy up to Mk4 power levels. why use it to fight horde better when working in the laggy heavy sweep with a bad angle is so much worse than spammed lights.

that move really should be a flatter sweep with more hitmass, but I guess not duely not force power or chain swords are supposed to do that (alone).

They are mostly forgotten because they are not “optimal” picks recommended by the 'influencers and community consensus. Most people just want to sit down, play a game and perform well without any headaches about game mechanics or trying something less popular.
