Sure the labor law says that you need roughly 2 weeks of uninterrupted vacation at some point in the year, and roughly total of 24-30 days of vacation in total, but absolutely nothing forces you to shutdown the entire studio for multiple months due to that.
If fatshark actually had any type of management skills then this would not matter in the slightest.
Also this is definitely an absolute murican take, there are other studios in sweden that do absolutely fine despite “suffering” from the same laws and regulation’s.
I still can’t get over this guy being like “these workers need to be treated worse so I can have muh vidya games faster”. I don’t like how slow FS is to produce content, but thinking they need a boot on their back is insane.
i dont think anyone wants them to have a boot on their back but rather be held to a standard that benefits their “live service”. regardless of how you feel fatshark are among the worst when it comes to community interaction and content creation. they consistently make stuff no one wants and never budges on their bad ideas and then get suprised when the playerbase plummets.
no studio should be worked like a slave but a studio should have some form of pressure on them to ensure quality content especially since this is supposed to be a “live service” title.
Fatshark main problem is people who are in charge. I doubt they even work a lot, cause inventing such crap anti player mechanics is probably just a fun time
-hey, Olle imagine they will sit and wait for map they want to play, loool
-haha, tell those production slaves to put it there, sweet jesus, glad we don’t have QA!
Meanwhile regular Fatshark employee looks like this probably
There is a little matter of perspective in this. Give a man a new job and a substancial raise, he will hate his life in 12 months again.
However; if glassdoor reviews and what we hear from other channels is anywhere close to accurate…then Fatshark problems start with poor management and lack of fleshed out business processes. There is only so much time that Tencent money bought them, especially if they continue to make the same mistakes over and over again.
You speak as if Fatshark was in a financial pickle. This couldn’t be further from the truth, really.
Also while the Glassdoor reviews do state some documentation and process issues, they aren’t bad. Praised is the creative freedom and team cohesiveness of Fatshark.
As someone living in America, I hate that you’re right. Our country is a joke and the fact that the media and politicians keep blinding the American population with “But we’re the greatest country in the world!” and most people are too stupid to even fact check it because “why would they lie about THAT, they’re too busy lying about the moon landing, JFK’s assassination, and the Election Fraud! They’re not lying about us being the greatest!”
Yeah… NO! Hard no.
Because of, as it seems, bad management decisions, workers are to move to a country with worse or some of the worst conditions (for a 1st world country). L take
reality is often cruel and disappointing. (tinfoil hat time) People don’t even realize that they’re getting played like a goddamn fiddle by mega-corporate umbrellas/conglomerate companies that work in tendem with government officials & agencies to find more ways to screw over the populous and keep the rich - rich.
But I digress. I’m sure Sweden is more cozy than America lol
im not buying their “sh*t” and i also dont agree that the devs should have a boot on their back so relax lmao. what i do believe is that fatshark needs some form of pressure to ensure quality content instead of their lazy dev cycles.
instead of yelling at people on the forums go yell at the whales supporting fatshark entirely if financial support is your excuse for their crappy development.
Somebody drank the exploitative capitalist Kool-Aid propaganda.
Sweden has it right, America is the one that has it backwards.
What America is only starting to figure out again after 4 decades of propaganda is that a happy worker is a productive worker and better for society overall.
