The problem with this is that you’re operating under the assumption that they plan to honor their promise. Why are you making that assumption? Of course it would be a positive PR statement if they came out and said “sorry, but we are doing it now” or “let us reassure you it’s still coming”. So why aren’t they doing that? Occam’s razor again: Because that’s not what reality is. They’re not working on it and currently don’t plan on honoring the promise.
There is a direct comparison here: VT2 versus took many many years longer than expected. But they also kept coming out to say “it’s still being worked on, patience”
You have an unhealthy amount of faith in them honoring their promise when everything in reality suggests they don’t plan to.
I just told the AI “rewrite with solo mode not being worked on” and that’s what it said, this was “rewrite with solo mode never coming”
"We want to take a moment to address our community regarding the anticipated Solo Mode feature. We sincerely apologize for the lack of updates and information surrounding its development. While we recognize that Solo Mode was a promised feature, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue its development in order to focus on other priorities that will enhance the overall user experience.
We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. Our team remains committed to delivering innovative features and improvements, and we will continue to keep you informed about our future plans.
Well, that’s seems reasonable… but that’s Fatshark. The ones that never say you that they are working on something until it is ready and all written in the marble.
The only times they announced something it was because the community forced them to.
So, I would not bet that they did not work on it.
At least there are parts of the code that are already there. Solo mod use part of them I believe.
And here’s what I’ve been saying all along: What would they gain from releasing such a statement? It’s literally just a negative PR release, telling people to stop holding out for it. They want you to be holding out for it though, even if they know it’s not being made. This is the stasis you currently float in, that works to their benefit.
I think VT2 versus is a good example of the opposite though. For VT2 versus, it was announced in 2019 or something I forget. Then there was silence for a year. Then devs came out to say “it’s not cancelled”. Then the website was taken down. Then the devs reassured us, repeatedly, that it’s still coming. And then it came.
because it was actually, factually being worked on, they had no reason not to reassure people it’s still coming. Simple math: Why are they not telling people solo mode is coming? Because it’s not being worked on.
They’d regain some of my lost goodwill towards the company.
Yes, it’s negative PR, but doesn’t the saying go: “Negative press is better than no press” or something? By acknowledging and taking accountability for their failing to uphold a promise you set yourself to a higher standard. Someone who stands up and admits that they’re a problem and they’re working to change themselves will always be more accepted than the person who continues to pretend they’re not a problem when everyone knows they are. Why do you think criminals express remorse for their actions during appeals court? In some cases it’s genuine, but in others it’s simply an appeal tactic. By acknowledging the crime they commited as a negative and admitting their faults, they are giving “negative PR” but it paves the way for a positive impression.
It’s an advertising thing and I dont think it really applies to a company breaking promises openly. Might even open them up to legal action honestly.
Look I really get where you’re coming from from a moral perspective but that’s between humans. Corporations aren’t humans, they’re structures made for making money safely. Fatshark isn’t about to risk bad PR to please their bad conscience. If they can just leave you with a “not coming, maybe later, deal with it” then you actually do have to deal with it.
Ball is in your court as I said. The sole actual development that can happen from here on out is:
Fatshark does pick up development again and tells us. No idea how likely that is, not clairvoyant, but they couldn’t tell you in advance.
Fatshark never picks up development again and that concludes all the official communication on it.
These are the sole actual options. In any case the CMs can’t share more. If development decides to pick it back up, then they can. As it is, Fatshark doesn’t seem to employ any actual polling so their actual community input mechanics are nebulous. It might be they actually read these forums and pass the sentiments on. It might be they don’t and just look at sales stats instead, and they have some reason not to do solo mode based on those. That’s total speculation, but both possibilities.
What I’m personally gonna do is never give Fatshark a cent again unless it’s worth the asking price at the time and I agree with their business practices at the time. Other than making sure people know the promise wasn’t honored, this is all that I think is reasonable to actually do.
And honestly even if they did apologize… Remember the CEO letter? Nothing changed & they doubled down on every issue.
I don’t think it can open them up to legal action. It’s not a binding contract and plans change. They just need to acknowledge it. The imagination of a community of gamers is going to be far worse PR than reality, and even Occam’s Razor isn’t foolproof. I genuinely don’t believe we’ll ever see solo mode and Fatshark will never get another dime out of me. I’m just sticking around on the sliver of hope (mainly because Strawhat is actually a good CM like Aqshy was) and because you all are fun to talk to barring a few individuals who I’ve got on “Ignore”. (which is saying a lot when this forum and Last Epoch’s forum use the same platform and I have like 5-6 people on Ignore there and only 1-2 here)
Can’t wait Dune… and I sincerely hope I will like it.
I sincerely like to play with randoms. I have met a lot of players that have great skill and that play kindly.
However, I am tireeeeed of these guys that run, run, run, never wait. I can understand they think it is the way the game has to be played. Well, ok… But I just want to play it like I want.
We can add that, as they don’t balance things, you always (or close to that) get someone, or several, that play with OP things.
So, really, Havoc has ruined a lot of things.
I must say that I don’t say that the Ogryn rework was bad. I actually love it, so many things in it that are really interesting.
However, metas are too powerful, and the new power standards are too high. If they start to balance around havoc and if we cannot play in solo… that’s bad for me.
Must say that I picked damnation regular again, and got things interesting. 3 games that, as Ogryn, I have to go through long space full of enemies to save the entire team… And on one game, I had to do it 2 times. That’s fun to play that. To have a reason to add a +12% revive ally 2 times.
Yes, there are better things… but, Ogryn is so strong… especially the middle keystone. If you play it well, and don’t get disturbed by your wife or child ( ), really the builds can be a tank.
I tested the 1st… with Pickaxes. Insane.
I have seen the 3rd (ranged one) used by several Ogryn… I have seen one that killed 2 DH and awakened them intentionally, just to kill them…
And here is the problem… considering this, I expect a buff for zealot (that is less powerful now than the Ogryn). If you ask me that’s not a good move. But I feel that zealot would benefit of better opportunities and there are few builds interesting. However, Fatshark should nerf damages of too strong weapons, and not always buff things. Unless they really started to balance around havoc.
Then I have a true problem with that…
Yeah, it just seems worse because all the remaining complaints can be summed up as: “We’ve been asking for X for years, and you give us Havoc and Mortis Trials instead.”
