I’m pleading with you to give us something to go off of! Anything to let us know that you hear us and you’re working to fix these issues. Ignoring an infection doesn’t make the infection go away, it makes it worse.

One indicator of a society in denial is the poker face syndrome paralyzing the population.
Studying the bolshevik era in Russia and current communist China, I can’t unsee the parallel with Fatshark.

USSR had dumb yet highly enforced rules like, day 1 dig hole, day 2 increase size of the hole, day 3 fill hole.
Nobody was batting an eye and protestors were sent to gulags. This forum is our gulag.
China has the same issue where factory employees will prefer to cover a fire with a cotton blanket instead of raising the alarm to address the elephant in the room.

Fatshark is knee deep in the same ideology producing these mentalities.

Fatshark basically engages in toddler mentality. If they don’t talk about the problem, it doesn’t exist.

That’s why there was months upon months of silence regarding just how stupid the old item system was until they finally caved and released info - AND NOTABLY, it was spurred by someone screwing up a press release and showing info early of the system we got that the community was vocally displeased about.

I’m gonna add this to the Book’s comms section.

I have a slightly more charitable view of this. I think they’re well aware of these problems and either can’t fix them due to technical debt/limits (My bet on why we can’t select our own missions/modifiers), corporate dictate (Obviously why we have the FOMO shop) or a simple lack of capacity (When there’s a glut of work, they might look at solo mode and say “The modders can handle that”.) None of which are exactly the kind of thing you want to share with your players because it’d make you look bad (Incompetent, Greedy and Lazy, respectively).

However, a lack of communication leaves too much open to interpretation, and this makes you look bad too. Silence makes the mind go wild.

I for one would also like to know what, if any, metrics they’re looking at when it comes to weapon balance. I’d happily eat a slice of humble-pie if they could show a graph illustrating what weapons/CAs are most popular, or the W/L ratio for different difficulties or something.

This is the main point I want to drive home. Your theories are just as valid as me saying: “Fatshark Suits just wants to make a quick buck by grabbing as many people as possible to buy their game and the devs who care have their hands tied”

We don’t know because they won’t say anything and I promise that the theories the community can come up with will be far more damaging in the long run than speaking up and taking the flak, and the longer they wait to speak up (going on 2 years for Solo Mode hearing anything other than “Not a priority”) the worse the flak will get.

An immediate: “Sorry guys, I know we said solo mode would be available in December at the latest but there were some hiccups with it that we weren’t happy with and unfortunately more pressing issues have taken the priority, we’ll be putting Solo Mode on an indefinite hold until we can allocate resources to it.” would be far more acceptable in 2022 than in 2025+

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

As a long time member of Team Solo Mode, I’d genuinely rather them just flat out say it is never happening than this constant ignoring of the topic. Because at least then they’d be acknowledging their audience.

It would be one thing if there was literally just nothing being done for the game. I’m a TF2 fan, I’ve been there, done that. It sucks. But actively having content being produced as if it were some massive thing everyone was wanting, while long-standing community requests aren’t even being ACKNOWLEDGED, is just beyond tone deaf.

It feels like we’re indirectly being told that what we want is wrong and this is what we should ACTUALLY want. Which is especially frustrating when what we are getting has its own host of issues.

I’ve barely played TF2 but from the outside, it seemed like you had a decent amount of updates with funny videos, events and new maps.

I’m specifically referring to the post-2017 content drought TF2 had/has. 2017 was the last time official Valve-made content and balance changes were the bulk of the material being released. Since then the only thing they’ve contributed are bug fixes, everything else has come from community-made content.

Why is the community so Toxic?!

Just to add insult to injury: I think it’s a better decision to ignore solo mode and implement more features, maps, and game modes. Sue me. It’s the smarter thing to do for a game that’s primarily played online with friends.

You know, letting players play solo is actually extremely easy. Literally just change the minimum number of players for private games from 2 to 1.

Demon bulbs are more annoying than hacking…

Seriously, I want a solo mode. And as we have waited 2 years, I want it with also the possibility to use my own bots.

See here, there are both (hacking and demon bulbs).

The people who think this are actually in charge of Fatshark. Remember ‘we give the community what it needs, not what it wants?’

Don’t worry we now have another community manager who can say they will “ask the devs about it”, and then not respond to anything.

Fatshark would rather immolate their own headquarters than communicate with their playerbase about any of the things people have been screaming at them about for actual years.
