Twice…
Anniversary and Skull
Twice.
Also got this one-time 75% off deal that apparently loads of people are biting at.
And on top of that, it seems (need to look at it a bit harder while I finish updating REALPRICES) that there’s quite a bit of new code centered around discounts for Aquila packs. So hopefully we’ll see more of those soon!
$5 for 4000 is enough for me to buy because it drops one of the 3 aspects of the store currency I have a problem with since it basically drives the price of an outfit from ~$13 to ~$3.50 which is ENORMOUSLY more reasonable.
(Basically my problems are the expense, the earnability, and the FOMO. Any one of those being removed is enough to make me open my wallet for that sweet sweet drip even considering my other beef with paid DLC classes).
Explain
It’s in the update announcement. They (permanently, it seems) added a one-time 4K Aquilas bundle for $5USD.
Hear, hear!
I’m a big fan of cheap one-time offers. To get marks hooked. Sorry, I mean, to make customers happy.
Re, the thread’s actual subject: Free samples make people happy, too!
you have to laugh , all those years ago when king and other mobile games guys starting hiring stats guys and psychologists in more numbers than devs, maximising revenue over gameplay , there manipulations were called out.
but here we are now and they won so damn completely that when the tricks they pioneered are missing people actually complain that something is missing ><
That’s because the tricks exist to provide relief from the stuff that sucks. But Fatshark only included the suck without any actual relief.
It’s so damn overpriced it’s just silly, a new class costs like a third of the biggest premium currancy pack.
no they dont they existed purely and solely to extract more money from the consumer, that was the trick you thought you were getting an offer a good deal.
Yes, but the feel good part balancing the feel bad part is part of it.
This is precisely what I think Padds is getting at. There’s no intentional pain here. It’s why the “DT is gacha” and the “FS are going to let you buy XP” stuff never made any sense. The “bad part” of the mobile games Padds brought up is the intentional pain designed by the developer meant to spur players to buy the relief.
There is no relief from the (ever-lessening) grind to purchase. Just cosmetics.
Aquilas should be a reward in every event. Maybe not 500 but definitely more than the nothing we usually get.
Pretty much every system outside of mission gameplay was pretty painful, even there is no payable relief for any of it. Fatshark have (eventually) done a lot to alleviate that, but at best it’s pretty neutral to me because they still insist on a lack of QoL in the Mourningstar.
The game wasn’t/isn’t rough because it was designed by evil MBAs trying to extract maximum value from us. And no one is arguing things didn’t start rough, but that’s not the kind of “pain” that I’m talking about.
I’m talking about creating a pain only to sell the cure.
That’s not here. We just don’t get free premium currency often.
The Mourningstar definitely started off as a shop driver, it’s just that several design elements from that original design haven’t been alleviated yet.
Props to Fatshark that they didn’t go the paid booster route, or the paid lootbox route, but the inclusion of a cash shop on release definitely twisted some of the design of the Mourningstar, of which some aspects of it is still part of the game. That’d be where some of the animosity for the cash shop would come from.
I’m really enjoying the new event and love that we get aquillas as the final reward. It just makes sense and makes us feel like valued customers, if you get what I mean.
Also have warmed to the the ganger since progressing through the exp levels. Early levels suck as ganger but it is truly becoming a glass cannon at lower tree nodes.
