It feels like the explosion knockback effect from a barrel in mission is way higher than it should be. I understand that if someone is next to a ledge with no railing and they are standing next to a barrel then they should be knocked back enough when they stumble or fly off the ledge. They were in a bad position, they didn’t pay attention to the barrel, they get punished for it, got it. Being blown OVER A RAILING because my teammate, who is the size of a small car, was swinging his weapon in an arc wide enough to rival a carousel to clip a barrel twice before I even realize he hit the barrel, punishing me by making me not play the game for 5-10 minutes, putting me at half health when Im rescued, and taking away my grenades/tools/scripture/grimoire (or someone else losing a scripture/grimoire for that matter), will always sour a mission for me. I’ve even seen two people (who weren’t standing next to each other) be thrown off a ledge by one explosion, and not just barely missing the ledge, I mean closer to rocket jumping in Team Fortress 2 clean past the edge and dieing well outside the boundary of were anyone is meant to go.
Not to mention the whole thing just looks like something straight out of loony toons in an otherwise grim-dark setting.
If you’re concerned that the barrels will be too much in the player’s favor then just increase the damage taken from barrels. Punishment given for not being more aware without it just feeling like a giant middle finger to not only the player but also the team who now has to deal with being down a player (or possibly two) and also just losing a scripture/grimoire just like that.
