Extremely frequent lagging/hanging

Issue Type (Required):

Other

Issue Description (Required):

Since the last update I’ve been getting lots of extremely frequent micro lags/stutters/hangs whilst playing. I have exceptionally fast internet and great rig, and have tried it with settings set to high and low. Occurs regardless.

The most noticeable place to see it happening is using the auspex in the rolling steel level. The ‘lags’ last for a second or less but occur at least 5-6 times per auspex games and it usually makes me hit the sides in the minigame.

It’s making the game borderline unplayable and this has never happened before.

I have all the AMD gfx stuff turned off but do have the Nvidia stuff turned on, with all other settings set to low or off.

Steam game, Win 11 Pro 64bit, i9 14900hx, 64gb ram, SSD drives, RTX 4090.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

Play game and notice the lagging.

For easy example, play the auspex minigame in the train level and you’ll notice the game stutter multiple times per minigame, but it stutters all the time whilst playing anyway.

Mission Name (Optional):

Rolling Steel

[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):

No, I don’t use mods

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

Sorry to hear this @MadMartigan, if you haven’t already done so, then I recommend running through some possible solutions here:

Otherwise, perhaps switching and trying our Experimental Build may help:

Thanks I’ll check these out but just an FYI, my performance has been stellar since path of redemption. This issue only started occuring in the last hotfix or possibly the one a day or so before it.

This is a very new phenomenon to me.

Ah I see! Hm, is there anything on your PC that could have changed/updated during this time? I’d keep an eye on your background applications and processes too in case the culprit is there. You could try a Selective Startup:

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC

Thanks, I’ll give that a try too when I have time but absolutely nothing else has changed on my machine. IMO it feels very much linked to the hotfix, especially as the hotfix had lots of settings related updates/changes.

can you upload a gamelog from a session %appdata%/fatshark/darktide/console_logs

We can detect some errors from there
