Extended Arbites Gameplay

At 1:09 it takes 3 shots to kill 1 scab shotgunner from 10 meters?
At 4:26 it takes 10 seconds for the mastiff to kill 1 mauler?
Oh no.

Skill tree fast look? Weapon blessings? Breh

If you look at the spread, it seems like it’s flat/horizontal. Most of the pellets miss, so it’s probably not optimal to go for single-target kills at that range. I think the kill-speed was reasonable considering the distance and so many pellets missing. If shooting into a pack of enemies, it will surely hit more at once. :slight_smile:

The Mauler isn’t a push-over though! The Mastiff disables it, and the Arbitrator can choose to help. In this case, no help was given. It will surely be very useful to send the Mastiff against approaching Specialists, like Trappers, Flamers, such that they never manage to become a threat while you’re busy in melee. :slight_smile:

another charge ability? really? couldn’t we have something more interesting and fresh like lock and loaded?

The real question is whether those bullets will still be on the gun when it’s out of ammo.
I’d say there’s a pretty good chance bros.

Well it certainly was the gameplay of all time. Cool to see some stuff, I’m glad it was shared. Perhaps next time get some play testers to play on a slightly higher difficulty? I’d like to see the player fighting at least some kind of horde.

More at once, but all for the same a meager damage, unless there’s some blessing or talent that increase damage for each enemy.

how so?
i aint saying current power creep is a good thing, but branx oneshots em on auric maelstrom given the right perks/blessings.

its a “filler character” to bolster mixed hordes and usually dies a dozen/a dime.

That was boring, sorry

I think “Branx one-shots them under the right condition” is looking at things in a vacuum, because it’s a weapon designed for precisely that – huge hits. The Mastiff is probably designed for assisting in takedowns, be that by disabling enemies while you whack them, or attacking enemies you can’t reach easily yourself. It’s not a Branx. :slight_smile:

okay than take any ogryn melee of choice except the paul, mauler doesnt hold longer than 3-4 hits more.

maulers literally get pushed over in regular gameplay :smile:

I’m thinking the Mastiff is more of a disabler, like a Pox Hound, whilst you’re the killer. :man_shrugging: A Mauler is probably one of the lowest priority targets I could think of sending it against. :slight_smile:

I remember Time Splitters 2 got this right, embarassing how long ago that was. However the revolver doesn’t care about how much ammo you actually have either so I’d say that’s a given.

So what do we learn from this video ?

  • The new shotgun or the dog seems to be able to stagger muties in their charge, don’t know if the lower difficulty can impact that, most likely (at 1:50) ;
  • at 2:01 we can see a new blunt melee weapon without a shield on one of the arbites, except it’s a skin of a shock maul it can be used without a shield (maybe the shield is part of the ability ?..) ;
  • 4:23 like explain in a previous blog the dog will prioritize elite and specialist around the player if not tagged and immobilize them until death or new tagged enemy i suppose. However it took it 10 seconds to an already wounded mauler in Malice difficulty to put it down so don’t expect it to mass murder mix-horde in damnation or Havoc 40, it’s here to temporize ;
  • 6:45 so is it the ability or the special attack of mace shield ? Hard to tell but if it’s the ability i’m gonna say it Fatshark it’s a bit lackluster knowing the zealot and the ogryn have already one ;
  • 7:04 after the shameful trapper cut (we’ve all have been there !) we can see 2 of the new blitz ; an impact grenade and a voltaic grenade, that last one seem to have a very high duration and block an entire area while they fight the chaos spawn, turn out we’re gonna have our pocket smite ;
  • Last at 7:13 dogs can lash on monstruosity, don’t think they do a lot of damage but at least they can weaken them a bit overtime, maybe a perk can be used to enemies targeted by the mastiff ?

Well the gameplay don’t sale wet dreams but at least it give a rough overview of the class, even if i hope we will have more devblogs toward the talent tree and answering some of our questions.
Maybe next time ask your playtesters partners like Reginald, Milkandcookies, jtcLive etc … to test your new class and ask them to use most of the tools at their disposition to showcase. I’m pretty sure they would have been happy and could made it for free.

Let’s assume that it was not only low difficulty, but also low level arbites, low level white/green gear and players were ign “journalists”, so the question is, why show this? It looks boring, class looks weak, so incentive to buy it, is kinda melting away.

They could’ve shown at least heresy, where stuff happens, enemies actively attack, there’s some hordes. Instead of ign journalists they could’ve done it like Arcane and invite some high skill player to record gameplay or even just use their havoc 40 playtesters. Do they really think it sells?

Looks like sedition to me.

I see the marketing budget is non existent. See I’m just a player, not a dev, not a playtester, but I think I have some common sense to realise that this video is completely useless. If you want to showcase your new class for people to buy it you make a video where it switches between the 4 perspectives, and each arbites uses different abilities, blitzes and weapons, while fighting some thick hordes in high difficulties. Imagine trying to have a cinematic hudless experience on sedition… seriously? Isn’t there like playtesters that actually play the game and could help you guys?

I’m gonna buy this class anyway because it’s at least meaningful content unlike the slop events, but what about potential customers that are hesitant? Is this supposed to sell the class to them? I only see a boring gameplay where I don’t even know what half of the kit of the class does, and the other half is reused and I gotta slog through the video to see a small glimpse of the new toys. And what’s worse, the centerpiece of the class (the dog) seems like a cosmetic thing running around that barely does anything because the player doesn’t tag. What a mess of a showcase honestly.

If you really examine the gameplay you’ll see the dog causing an electric-explosion at 07:10 when it kills an enemy, which is powerful enough to stagger the Chaos Spawns. It also happens at 07:26.

Edit: It’s been revealed that the explosion is a Blitz called Remote Detonation, so the enemy died because he dog exploded, not the other way around. :blush:

What difficulty was this ran at? Will there be a break down of the talent tree?
