Not even the case, the spawns ramp up so hard when the timer gets close to zero and also in the third extraction zone, you also can just get pressured into the many many patrols accidentally when trying to kite. My win rate in auric is definitely not as high compared to adventure maps. The mass of specials around the map also kind of force you to let them reign chaos or kill them at the cost of aggroing patrols they are near.
I like to think that Expeditions was made by a suit who heard the term “extraction shooter” and knows it performs well on sales metrics, but doesn’t know what the gameplay is like in those and just gave the directive to make players extract with SOMETHING
by that time you would be swimming in scraps which would mean tons of airstrikes and big grenades.
it was called “trials” so clearly it wasn’t even meant to be serious
the vast majority of players can’t even handle normal difficulty, what you want simply isn’t viable. (then again, neither is expedition, hence the crappy player numbers over the weekend)
yet havoc is a thing.
and that clearly didn’t save player population
That’s what I’m saying. I play Damnation or Auric and the roaming hordes are GIGANTIC (minimum 20 units) and very frequent. They’re very hard to avoid and lurking around almost every corner.
it doesnt need to, it needs to keep the core audience, the paying audience
the ones that stay for years, not merely months or weeks.
back in 2023 3k players kept the lights on just fine.
the last ~1000 players clearly isn’t enough.
don’t forget fatshark is also paying for dedicated servers
Back in 2023 they had money from the copies sold, which they then squandered.
Expeditions which we got is literally beta version of game mode, perhaps there’re huge beautiful plans on this, but we never know for sure
