Good job to @MarxistDictator for finding this and pointing it out here. It’s from the latest update. So, in the future, we are going to be sent on expeditions of some kind. But where? That’s a mystery that drills my brain.

Second hive city
Or
Nox alpha
Given that the moon can be seen through the window, it does perhaps suggest an expedition there…but I’m trying really hard not to get my hopes up. ![]()
The viable options are either the Second Hive City, the outside wastes of the Witherlands, or the moon Atrox. Nox Alpha is an off-system planet so I’m thinking it’s unlikely.
My hope is the Second Hive City. Although I could see the story being an expedition through the Witherlands to find an entrance to the Second Hive.
Oh hello there latest thing the players think they figured out that will only result in community disappointment as the CM will refuse to comment on it either way, leaving only expectations and hopes to fester because communication is a joke…
Didn’t Vermintide 2 have multiple types of expeditions? Those weekly quests were called that too, right?
Well VT2 has 4 Expeditions
Fortitude, Courage, Determination and Citadel of Eternity
They’re essentially the same gameplay wise, 4 random maps + their final specific Arena (In Citadel of Eternity, it’s 3 random maps + 1 fixed map being the Citadel itself + the final arena), with 2 shops in each Expedition
Each expedition will be afflicted by 1 Chaos God (they rotate between different expeditions in X amount of time). This affects only the final arena. One of the expeditions will also be affected by Belakor, changing one random map into a harder more rewarding map if their sidequest is done. This also rotates to different expeditions with time
The weekly run is just one of these 4 expeditions but with Boons and Curses from the get go
I think most people here are just speculating for the fun of it. Cautious optimism.
That’s how it starts…
Also, this reminds me… I surely hope that if this will be some kind of Rougelike mode akin to the Chaos Wastes where there is a lot of replayability, it’d be very nice if said replayability would partially be drawn from things like past modifiers being used once again.
In Vermintide 2 each section had some kind of extra modifier from one of the Chaos Gods, so utilizing Darktide’s no-longer-used modifiers sounds like an easy way to please many and save resources by reusing old mechanics, wouldn’t it?

There’s many ways to make a fun gamemode in this sort of game so I think even if it’s not chaos wastes style maybe they’ll come up with something good. I think Fatshark is very hit and miss when it comes to gamemodes so who knows.
Mortis Trials for example actually is really close to being an actually fun Killing Floor/TF2 mvm style experience, it’s just a couple (really important) mechanics short.
I would love a Tzintch modifier which “locks” your ability and blitz on some random choice before each mission within expedition - forcing you to use a build that uses this combo for that specific run. To force you to be creative and try various playstyles of your class.
So if we had to assign Havoc modifiers to all 4 chaos gods, how would they go? (Assuming it’s like VT2 when each map of the expedition has a chance to have 1 modifier from a Chaos god)
Khorne:
Nurgle:
Slaneesh:
Tzeench:
And if we include non Havoc modifiers, we could have stuff like Roaming Giants and more
There’s an unused mutator in the files where single enemies split into two enemies on death.
Assuming I’ve interpreted this correctly scripts/managers/mutator/mutators/mutator_purple_stimmed.lua
Yes, it’s called Warp Rift, it’s why I mentioned heh
You can access it with Solo Play mod
It will be extremely boring if they just re-use Havoc modifiers there. I hope they will come up with truly original content, having just a Havoc boredom all over again, just with a strategic map on top, will be a let down.
Man if they’re actually making yet another separate game mode to fragment the player base I’m going to scream.
No seriously at this point they have a problem and need to go to game dev rehab.
Expeditions = Chaos Wastes ( I think).
