Enemies act on fire? Tis a scratch

Enemies act normal when set on fire.

They don’t scream in agony, or roll around on fire as a death animation, or swing wildly trying to put out the flames. Dead corpses that fall into a fire don’t even change color. Should their clothes catch fire? Nah, just turn them burnt or orangish reddish.

I can pass Pox-walkers and Specials not caring, but traitor guard?

We all remember rats screaming: “IT BURNS, IT BURNS”

Its the little things.

I like that some enemies wouldn’t react to being on fire, but it would be nice if a few types of enemies would scream in terror/agony. It would make Purge and Flamethrower feel a lot more rewarding.

Groaners and Scabs for sure should scream when on fire.

In the grimdark future of the 41st millennium all of the weak have been weeded out.

Hearing a Dreg say “Thank you” with their dying breath can really ground you in a mission, just hope fire had some of the same.

Yes, seeing a few enemies run the other direction or scatter on fire would really add meaning to the flamers “Impact”.

If the rumors about a new class getting fire grenades is true, I hope they look at what fire does to the enemies as well.

Or deliberately run right through it to get to you… sometimes dying in the process.

They are minions of nurgle though I suppose in a lot of the stories they don’t feel pain as such. Even when bit’s of them are dropping off or mutating. They just shamble along getting shot to bits and laughing it off mutating as they go.

Yeah I miss the way rats, fanatics and goat people would flail around when dying to burning. That and their screams really added to the Sienna experience. Lots of unsatisfying gore in the game. Like the voidstrike can explode poxwalkers and maulers but nothing else. Chain axe/sword have no unique wound or gore ability so they have no weight whatsoever. Powerful cutting weapons either cut enemies in half at the torso or take off their head.

The developers should watch the L4D/2 dev commentary. Making tons of visceral wound and death reports is paramount when making a game where the gameplay is ‘kill tons of enemies’.

There is unique gore wounds with weapons, but they seem to be limited in how many will show up on screen at once. It might be tied to the number of ragdolls you have turned on, or another setting. I noticed a lot more melee wounds in beta than live, so I also wonder if they had to turn down the number of wounds for stability reasons.

You’re right, Nurgle wouldn’t feel the pain physically and mentally. But they should demonstrate that fire is not an issue that care about. They could laugh at you for the attempt to set them on fire, or hideously giggle when set on fire. The main reason Nurgle can corrupt humans is the fear of pain AND death. Fire would still cause them to die. Before I dive too deep into the lore I could see even a mutant scream from not the pain of fire, but the pain of death.

There are also citizens we fight, who have been twisted and not fully a corrupted by the plague god, yet. (skavenslave chaff level) I could see them snapping out of it in their dying moments, rejecting the plague god and burning a horrible death.

I agree. Most of the fun for me is seeing the how the characters, enemies and players interact with the environment. The RNG of enemies dying and ragdolls (we all love a good ragdoll) is what makes me want to explore other weapons. When a Plague Ogryn Bursts through a wall, my first thought is to explore the room he came from. Seeing it empty and clean is disappointing. I imagine the Ogryn would have been collecting and feasting on corpses and the room was so awfully rotted you would take damage just by entering. A mist of plague would be seen exiting the room as a warning that you shouldn’t enter.

:frowning:

Oh yeh for sure they make a big deal out of nurgle’s infested guys deliberately taking injuries to show how little it hurts them. Or how little they care. An old favourite of theirs is to let an opponent stab them just to tie his weapon up. They always laugh about it too lol

Groaners, non-rager Scabs and non-rager Dregs seem like the ones that would react to being set on fire. Groaners because they’re still feeling the suffering of the plague (you can hear them beg for help, say how cold they are, etc.), Scabs are influenced by Chaos but doesn’t seem to have been granted any gifts yet, and while Dregs are showing signs of the plague, they seem to be on the lower rung of the cult of Nurgle (the melee guys especially) and still feel pain (otherwise why would they take cover).

Poxwalkers are fully zombified, ragers are too hopped up on stimm or Nurgle’s blessings to care.
