Issue Description:
When you have a stack of Empowered Psionics, and use the Surge staff secondary attack, the damage buff is applied to the secondary attack
Steps to Reproduce:
Get EP talent
Use secondary attack of Surge staff on enemy without the EP buff, make note of damage
Get EP buff
Use secondary attack of Surge staff on enemy with EP buff, note damage is much higher

Confirming this. Also, the Lightning Storm talent seems to affect the Surge Staff as well, making it jump to 2 targets instead of just 1.
Not that it’s terribly relevant to the bug report, but having extremely overpowered exploits in the game has been ruining my enjoyment of the class overhaul. I wish you guys would test more thoroughly, or at the very least put out hotfixes more quickly. For example, did the infinite smite bug need to wait for a huge balance patch to be addressed?
Hope this is fixed quickly. My psyker uses surge staff and EP and I really have no interest in playing him if I literally can’t avoid taking advantage of a bug without changing my build. I also do not look forward to the inevitable lobbies full of surge staff psykers scooping up all the damage, just like assail psykers were doing last patch.
Yeah, lumping together a whole lot of changes to throw into a big patch is great and all… for marketing, but it usually introduces way more problems as you have changed so much it takes even longer to dig through all those changes to find what and where the bug is. It’s not good software engineering practice from any perspective… except PR and marketing.
I kept saying people slept on the Surge Staff while having a go at Assail when I was using the Surge without picking up Smite. It has been much improved even without bugs.
I am not sure what you mean by it jumps to 2 enemies, I’ll have a test to actually understand. That’s because I have never used it with Smite and it has always jumped to several people for me and it has always done more damage to a primary target and hit a few secondaries for a lot less. To me it just looked like it was quicker than pre-13, and hit the primary harder. I always paired it with BB.
Gotcha, yeah I can see that now, thanks for explaining. It’s the secondary target that gets duplicated, not the primary at least. I wouldn’t call it OP, but as it is not supposed to work that way of course it needs patching.
I felt something was wrong yesterday when i played and a Psyker took down a bunch of muties in one strike but i couldn’t figure it out.
Tried various build to replicate it (because i want to understand, not exploit) but i never expected it to be empowered psionics AGAIN to be the issue so i never tested that.
Tried it again today and the damage is indeed applied.
It took away my motivation a little to play with Psykers again.
So with that said i’m bumping this thread!
@FatsharkCatfish Is a hotfix available asap? I’m slightly scared this won’t be fixed until the next balance patch or update.
