My coop friends disagree with you. Maybe they are not as good as your group but they would like the game to go in a very different direction than you do. I think your folks are a minority. A lot negative steam reviews think so also. On the flip side, I have not seen anything in positive reviews to support your views either. This game has potential and a lot of people see that. I hope the devs make the right decision on which direction they take this game going forward, for our sake and their future success.
They disagree with me about Shade’s cooldown reduction builds?
They have never complained about it. The things they say pretty much disagree with almost everything else you say in most of your posts… and not just in this thread.
I don’t see your point. This is a thread about specific things. I’ve hopefully clearly given my opinion on those things. You’ve opted to scare-mongering with Steam reviews, sales and playerbase. As well as slandering and using ad hom attacks on anyone who holds a differing opinion to you. Even trying to get devs to ignore people.
I don’t see how that progresses any discussion and I won’t respond further to you.
I’m not saying that Shade needs to have what makes it fun nerfed away (killing tanky things things instantly?).
I am saying that Elf is by and large just better than other classes. It’s mobile, it’s survivable, and it can do massive damage. More often than not, an Elf or Sienna will have the most top scores at the end of a game. I rarely see any other class dominate the stats in a game with an Elf or Wizard the way that they do. That’s not indicative of good balance.
Works for me… I only joined this forum because I was tired of people not speaking up against threads like this one. My posts (plural) explained my views fine. The replies others have posted give you plenty of counter points. I showed my support for these via likes. I’m not here to convince you as that is not possible. I’m just here to add to the voices against your short sighted opinions.
I see their down sides and weaknesses. They can be squishy compared to some other characters as they have less health and no damage reduction except HM when your whole team is down. Switching between the two and the other classes it is noticable. I know a lot of people hate the elf and wizard players due to bad experiences… sometimes I feel there is a lot of bias against them. Wizard especially in my opinion requires an experienced player to do well.
It’s more an indication that the scoreboard is really outdated and needs reviewing. Even playing as sienna/kerillian I’ve been saved plenty of times by a good kruber/bardin/saltzpyre doing things they can do that I cannot.
Elf is focused on being fragile and relying on finesse to get by, closest thing is rapier saltzpyre, besides that the rest is more bulky heavy brute force melee and I’d rather see some more strength put into them there to reinforce that. Handmaiden glaive is the closest she’ll get to a “bulky bruiser” and even then she’s more fragile and relies more on dodging and weaving where others have different tools and strengths which is a hallmark of good balance.
I won’t argue that the scoreboard is biased to damage focused classes, but this most games for you. Vermintide 1’s system with assisting allies “by killing enemies about to hit them” was much friendlier to the supportive classes, which is kind of what they are. Doesn’t mean they can’t do damage but certain roles exist to be a rock in the endless tide of vermin.
This also highlights the issue with the slot system, animation speed timings in the game that makes the melee trait that gives you and an ally a shield on assist so useless.
Luckily they’ve been making stealth improvements to the slot system… It’s feeling progressively better.
Or unexpirienced/ignorant one to pіss off her teammates and defenetly get “Friendly fire green circle”.
Hate for elf and wizard when they’re doing poorly, hate for elf and wizard when they’re doing well ^^; it only shows she has a big learning curve and that playing her well should be rewarded, she’s just very responsive compared to the heavier melee classes.
stop trying to nerf everything so legend becomes a mediocre mess where everyone does no damage and gets nowhere. I know some people like it if it takes 12 hours to complete a legend run but please stop with the nerf stuff. The huntsman changes were awful and the falchion nerf was unneccessary… GEEZ. Buff other characters up but for the love of God stop nerfing these actually useful characters. Especially Shade. She is fun and requires some skill to play.
Nerf this, nerf that wahwahwah. This is a PvE game! Quit crying about nerfs when a lot of stuff needs buffs. Good lord, you kids are embarrassing.
Just to be clear, I don’t even play Kerillian.
It’s really telling that the other most posted thread right now is one saying that Huntsman is nerfed too hard when he’s still amazing. If there was something to complain about with Kruber it’s that the other ranged weapons in his arsenal aren’t as useful as the Handgun now.
Which just falls into the category of “A lot of weapons have bugs that haven’t been fixed since CBT, like Halberd.”
i strongly disagree with this sentiment. in all my experience, it’s always player skill and aggressiveness that determines combat uptime. if one person is doing all the work, it’s basically because the other 3 are not skilled enough or too passive in their playstyles. a proper group consists of all 4 players struggling to advance thru the map in as quick a time as possible, which means all players are consistently trying to kill as much as they can, while playing it safe.
if your ranged classes have all the uptime, then your melee are not pushing forward fast enough or are not confident enough to do so. if your melee are getting all the kills then your ranged aren’t pulling their weight.
u can observe, if X player is carrying the team switches out to some other ‘less meta’ class to play, he will still be carrying the team in the next game.
also, quite rarely you will find reckless characters that go all out on green circles but have to rely on their teammates to cover their ignorant backsides from many stray rats chasing them. sometimes i’m guilty of just letting them get poked in the back and die so they can learn their lesson =P
It doesnt. Its the worst weapon against bosses and lords I would say.
Thats just a attack pattern makes it feel good. Now, Halberd for comparison. Halberd have longer range, and different types of attacks. Personally I dont finding “have to block to perform only first attack” as an issue. Its fine. Im doing same with glaive and heavy attack on daggers, cause second daggers attack will hit the head when only you staying above target.
So, halberd have
[v] waveclear, safer, due to longer range.
[v] combo of two over-heads that easily lands on SV heads. (push stab and immediately attack). even if you are bad and cant land a single headshot with it, third attack in this sequence would be first halberd attack, which is armor pen too. and thats faster and more reliable then glaive heavy attack cause of range.
I personally feel like glaive is only good for waveclear, not for eilites killing. You still can kill them, but not safely, charged attack is slow, you cant block interrupt it, and glaive dodge range is low enough too feel pain of fighting 3 SV at the time.
Yea, basic attacks gives them stagger, but overhead interrupted only on crititcal headshot i believe. When i started the game, i ve got knocked down so many times believing that my OP glaive will stagger anythin, when its actually doesnt.
Now to daggers. Thats the best weapon to deal with bosses. Im loving playing shade dual daggers, full “power vs monsters”. With a conc potion you can kill any boss in a seconds. Yes, its definitely a strong point. But chaos spawn still have a chance to **** you while you are invisible, and your random team, which decides “oh thats chaos spawn, we better stay on that glitched rock or smth where he cant reach us” will screw you. Still have killed troll solo in 12 seconds while teammates were defending horde.
BUT. Mass limits for attack on daggers VERY LOW. You can hit and stagger only ONE of any target. besides slave rats and fnatic (chaos horde basic unit, looks like zombie actually). even 2 clan rats (rats in clothes) can screw you up if you are not good enough with daggers. ok, what you doing when theres more targets than you can hit and stagger in fron of you when you fighting horde? you push them and hit. dagger has 45 degrees push angle, good luck on that.
So, what Im think. Glaive is good, but not even as good as halberd due to attack speed/versatility. Daggers rapes bosses, they may need like 20% dmg nerf on ult, doing 200 instead of 255, but in all other terms they are fine. You cant slay lords like that, they are armored, danger or teleporting like mad.
And as always, no one saying about sad sides being shade. One of your traits useless.
Backstab critical hit instantly slay man-sized enemies. Had you ever chance to take advantage of it? I doubt so.
It feels like to get behind something you need to have Bardin used his ultimate, or it should be one target, one in the field, staggered by your own critical hit, so you can dodge behind them, and strike. I replenish ammo that way.
Game have no angle of sight for enemies except patrols (though they will be aggroed by your infiltrate presence LUL). Other enemies will just run to the closest enemy possible. So, if you became invisible, got into horde to kill that one CW, shielded SV blocking possible skaven slaver from being targeted, you will find your self surrounded by rats looking to swing you from all sides. From no longer cares about dwarf frying them with flamethrower, they seek revenge for their brothers and sisters.
Loving this post
“have you ever chance to take advantage of it?”
ARE U KIDDING ME!?
getting backstabs is key, and my whole playstyle and the whole point of playing the shade! it’s what totally makes the class…
backstab kills allow u to:
- kill all elites (except cw) quickly
- get back a LOT of ammo in a very short time, or consistently throughout the whole map
- burst down bosses quicker than you would facestabbing it
if you want to learn how to consistently backstab enemies, you have to practice.
i use sword and dagger with a crit build. a glaive or other weapon setups require different approaches to get backstabs, but it is all trainable. ANY enemy can give you back ammo or a quick backstab kill - i shall detail it here.
- slave rats: block strikes, dodge or run behind them, heavy strike +2 ammo
- clan rats: block or single strike, dodge behind, +2 ammo
- stormvermin/maulers: don’t screw around, kill them quickly from the front or backstab them quickly while they are engaged with someone else
- shieldvermin/shield infantry: walking free ammo, just light attack while rotating around them, one crit and they are dead from the back, if you don’t get crits, u get ammo, win-win. they get stunned facing one direction if u hit them fast enough
- beserkers: kill quick or wait for them to latch on to a teammate and stab them in the back
- bosses: spam ammo on them, spam attacks on their back for ammo, repeat till they ded
btw, this is all WITHOUT activating her ulti. i’m talking regular combat. with the ulti, you can do even more fun stuff, like shading through a horde, popping up behind the whole lot of them and shearing through their backsides for ammo, or dual killing elites in high style.
the reason why i had to develop this technique is because i spend a lot of ammo hunting and killing specials and i need to replenish it consistently.
there. my goodness. learn to play the class before coming into forums and embarrassing yourself =P
@mookanana I’ve sadly noticed a lot of the time I’m physically behind enemies I still won’t get ammo ;_; whether it’s the game failing to communicate or lag I don’t know but I get very inconsistent results on backstabbing reliably and sometimes get ammo instead attacking from a side which feels so odd. It’s like some mob animations don’t account for backstabbing positioning with hitbox turning. At least I get plenty of ammo from bosses and elites if my allies give me time to set up a backstab and don’t instantly kill it xD
I’ve had moments where I was defending from a horde and suddenly had 0 > 5 ammo and cases where I was parry or push stunning mobs, getting behind and not getting ammo
what weapon are you using? glaive? also, lag might be an issue. the angle for backstabs is actually very narrow.
