I am sorry to tell you that, but there is different builds in this game that fit different playstiles of different people. I see no reason why Shade can not be played as an OP wave clearer with very strong boss damage and higher than average elite removal.
Also Shade is better than HM for clearing waves purely because of 10% more attack speed (with same power). That’s huge.
you won’t be able to quickly dispatch shieldvermin or take advantage of double heavy stabs with SnS. also, i find that the attack angle and speed for SnD aoe sword strikes faster and better than SnS - a horizontal sweep that covers the sides and time to contact on the right flank is probably the fastest strike, vs the downwards 45deg angle of SnS. i do believe SnS has a slighter longer range though, and every bit of range is needed.
it is harder to use tho, and you do need to block cancel for hordes. the dagger strike follow ups also have an increased chance to crit, making it easy to swivel around shieldvermin/bulwarks/elites to kill them fast with a backstab - this is harder to do with SnS because of the speed difference. you can also generate up to 3-4 ammo real quick with a block push swivel-to-the-back combo on a chaos infantry unit, much faster because the combo is so quick in executing.
2h sword is just too slow for my liking, but maybe i will try that build which kills chaos zombies in one hit, sounds like fun
I see you laughing at me but not paying attention to what I’m saying, ironically enough. I said it has no place on shade. It’s fine on waystalker / handmaiden. It’s garbage on Shade.
If you think this weapon is fine on any career there is insane secret method of using this piece of metal scrap that other do not possess. Please, do share your ultimate forbidden technique with the peasant masses that keep mindlessly swinging this obviously underrated weapon without understanding its true power.
I never said it was fine on ANY career, nor did I say it was obviously underrated or even better than any other weapon. I said it was just fine. My point was and always has been that it’s useless on the Shade. How is this a difficult concept to follow?
The only difficult concept to follow is the concept in which 2-handed sword for Keri is actually a “fine” weapon under any circumstances. Could you please elaborate why this weapon is “fine” in your opinion? Since “fine” would mean that it does at least as well as other weapons in most of the shared aspects like cleave, stagger, armor-penetration.
It’s not 10% faster, it’s 5% faster which is one extra attack per 20 swings. Not really noticeable. Secondly, the Handmaiden one shots all Scaven Infantry she hits with her charge bleed which has the fastest CD in the game and can swipe her way back to her teammates uncontested with 3 seconds of invis. She absolutely is far better than the shade in wave clear.
Also the shade doesn’t have higher than average elite removal using cleave weapons. Only with Daggers. There are plenty of careers who can 1-2 shot elites from range and the Shade with cleave weapons is less equipped than those careers at elite removal. So saying she has “higher than average elite removal” is incorrect. Also, there’s nothing OP about a Shade with a cleave weapon.
For all the people trying to argue that Shade is good with a cleave weapon, here’s my all-encompassing argument.
Shade is specialized at 2 things, Bonus damage when attacking from behind, and boss removal. Any waveclear you think she’s good at, the waystalker and handmaiden are both better at.
For example, Waystalker’s ult can clear anywhere from 10-20 infantry while simultaneously refunding 20% of your quiver and, if you have ammo on hs ranged weapon trait, refund additional ammo per hs from trueshot volley (unless they patched this, haven’t played WS in a while). Furthermore, she has regen so she can technically take more damage than the Shade.
Another example is with handmaiden, she can dodge 20% farther than the shade, can charge through hordes applying a bleed which will kill all scaven infantry and severely weaken chaos infantry, and with the invis talent, can cleave her way back to the front line unimpeded.
The shade has no talents or abilities that affect her wave clear at all. Just weapon choice. So any argument that the Shade is good at wave clear is overshadowed by how much better the waystalker and handmaiden are.
The shade is the BEST at melee combat versus elites and bosses. On legend, the shade can 1-2 shot SV’s with DD’s by doing two heavy attacks to the face. If even one of those daggers crits, it’s a oneshot. Picking up hagbane to help with waveclear is probably your best bet if your teammates aren’t spec’d or equipped to handle it. Otherwise just pick up a volley crossbow to help mitigate specials. It’s as simple as that. The Shade is not a wave clear specialist. You can choose to play her that way but you’ll be doing a disservice to your group by limiting your elite kill potential and overall boss damage potential for a playstyle. If you want melee wave clear, I suggest Handmaiden. It’s a lot of fun.
Maybe on rare occasion but again, 3-4 infantry kills doesn’t actually do anything to help with waveclear beyond killing 3-4 targets. Holding onto it to take out a sneaky hook rat or escape from getting flanked or taking out a shielded SV following the horde is a much better use of it. IMO, using Shade’s active to kill infantry is a waste.
