Item rework is here and honestly I’m bummed that every item I put blood sweat and RNG tears into is now useless/obsolete. This new item system is incredibly dumbed down. Basically, all you need to do is figure out what dump stat you want to have, then find a base with four 80s on every other stat (which I have had in my inventory 9/10 times). There might be a few exceptions like if you want a certain max ammo pool for blaze away (that’s still a thing right?). All in all, I had so many niche items for certain builds, prioritizing certain stats over others, and now my pool is just one item with 4 80’s. It’s just instant maxing for the sake of pleasing whiners. Big sad
I think if this is the move, go even further. At this point we don’t need multiple weapons of the same kind. Just make it a LoL like system, let us choose our desired blessings, perks etc. No need to bother with the inventory hustle if you’ve dumbed it down to this point. I’m not even being sarcastic, literally delete the inventory system and let us choose our items and blessings/perks during the mission. Not sure why you would go back on the itemization to this point but since you did, make it even easier to max your gear before the mission. Don’t make us jump through pointless hoops
is there any actual criticism behind not wanting people to have a decent item system besides ‘I werked herd n i earnt it’. like alright man, I probably spent millions more plasteel than you and this is already ranking among the top 10 updates they did. an item system is a means to an end and not the actual point of gameplay, it should be as far away from random as possible in an RPG style game based on repeating scenarios. it is actively cutting down on your desire to replay when you are not actually experiencing any different gameplay because you aren’t physically able to luck the items required into existence. I had enough people stop playing because of that trash.
also here’s a great example of why the new system is better: Kantrael shotgun gets an extra shell off small bags at 80 ammo even though it only gets 1 more reserve ammo. absolute money on a weapon that literally needs 80 ammo stat to get 10 ammo minimum back from a pickup. literally nobody uses this weapon already, does it break the game having ones that maximize what it could actually do.
Using the random item that you get from RNG = smort
Choosing exactly what you want to use, based on your overall build = big dumb
Got it.
You are mad, because players no longer need to waste their time on a bad RNG system, like you (and I, and many others) did.
Emotions put aside, i think you know that the new system is better for everyone.
i spent millions of plasteel for some weapons and blessings yet i strongly welcome this new system, its true that i lost all exclusivity on my weapons, but this game should have not been revolved around crafting like it was before
I can’t imagine that a large percentage of the audience would enjoy pissing away tens of thousands of ressources, trying to get that good roll.
Just for it to get nerfed a few weeks later, making it effectively worthless.
Happened to me with the auto pistol.
Outside of actually using the item (while it was still good), i do not miss any part of that “journey”.
Now, it is actually possible to work towards a specific outcome, without terrible RNG factors. And even if a weapon, or a specific blessings gets changed, we can quickly adjust to it.
To get my inventory I camped Brunt’s store via the Chrome plug-in. Bit of a break from work every hour, on the hour.
I know it was, frankly, a ridiculous way of getting good quality gear, but it was pretty much the only way. If you just popped your head in every now and then in between missions you’d have no chance of getting good, let alone great, end game gear.
I get what the OP is saying; Brunt/Melk/Hadron are now somewhat trivialised. That said: I still love the change. I’d been playing with more or less the same builds for months and months; and just since the latest change I’ve tried out four or five new ones. More people should be able to experience that without investing hundreds of shopping hours.
I think during the next few months FS need to re-envisage what the workshops on the Mourningstar actually offer and what their future purpose will be. I don’t see why anyone would bother now with Brunt apart from the occasional new weapon pickup as emperor drops come in at a higher level, as do Melks, and require fewer resources to upgrade. Unless you’re really chasing a specific set of end-stats and want to corner off every opportunity.
I reckon personally Brunt should become more workshop than retail shop. He only sells greys. But you can move stats around at his workshop. Let’s face it; it’s heading that way anyway where everyone can easily get the stats distribution of choice.
the thing is for me at least the game is what i want sitting at ~1.7k hours. I do not want to interact with anything that is not the game. I hate hadron I hate the mourningstar I hate brunt and melk. I just want to spend time playing it instead of planing to play it.
Yeah I get this, but I do think the old system had its merits. But now I just don’t see the point in those systems still existing. It’s like pulling the slot lever but every wheel only says BAR
