Top players posted in this thread and mentioned that the knife offers absolutely no benefit over the dueling sword other than a bit of purely sprint speed if you don’t plan to fight anything, but thanks for your uneducated opinion on what top players think. Pretty much every single “top player” whatever your criteria may be is calling for dueling sword nerfs also because it makes the game trivial. Weird demographic to try and pull an argument from authority with considering they completely and entirely disagree with everything you just said.
Also, the chart isn’t right or wrong, it illustrates a concept. It’s a point explaining that you can’t just buff all weapons to perform like the DS, or it’ll make them samey. You can make a counterpoint if you care enough but I think you just tried to butt in because I was mean to someone and don’t actually care. Just like how that person didn’t actually care to discuss the point the chart made and instead tried to dismiss it with some underhanded brainlet dig.

Safety is pretty self explanatory. Its an aproximation of the aggregate of several factors including:
Sprint speed
Dodge distance
Dodge speed
Dodge count
Any animation locks like thammer blowback or chain weapon revs
Any animation reqs for breakpoints like Thrust
Effective TTK
Stagger capacity
Swing speeds
A weapon that kills a crusher in 0.2s is safer than one that kills it in 5 seconds. A weapon is safer when you don’t need to invest action economy resources to achieve a quick TTK. A weapon with high stagger and quick attacks is faster than one with slower attacks that do not stagger. Etc etc etc. High safety high value is better than low safety high value is better than high safety low value is better than low safety low value.

DS is a weapon designed for single-target use, so it makes sense for it to deal damage to armor and other defenses. however, its current base damage is too high, and “Uncanny Strike” exacerbates this issue.
If US is not removed, the base damage needs to be significantly reduced, but if US is removed, a moderate adjustment to the base damage should suffice. Lowering its attack speed doesn’t seem particularly meaningful, as its long dodge range compensates for it.
Agile, on the other hand, is undeniably overpowered and needs to be rebalanced. First, the 10% damage bonus should be removed, and instead of triggering on hit, it should grant +2 dodge charges on a kill, which seems much more reasonable.

I believe there is a underlying issue with Duelling Swords and Daggers having significantly higher movement speed and dodge distance. It’s such a huge advantage that even a nerf to blessing selection or damage won’t change much. What should happen in my opinion is to either lower the volume for DS/Daggers or increase it for other melee weapons to make the gap smaller.
Uncanny + Thrust gives a small but noticeable increase to DPS as opposed to using riposte/shred and uncanny strike. But I still use riposte and uncanny for the crits to refresh my zealot ability.
If you’re playing veteran, you may as well use thrust and uncanny because you don’t really get benefits on crits besides damage, and if you’re using the talents desperado and reciprocity, you’ll probably crit anyway without the crit blessing tbh.
I’d say overall, yes. It sort of depends on the class & personal preference as others mentioned. On Vet, US & Thrust is probably the best because Vet isn’t really crit based as much as Zealot. Like, I’ve seen people go with US/Thrust with Precog as well because of Vet’s high finesse on Desperado. Both work great. Just that with Thrust & US you don’t even need a successful dodge to 1-2 hits crushers/maulers with Vet. That’s if you have certain perks & nodes on. With Zealot, Thust/US is also incredible on top of the Duellist node. Some people will say to go Ripost/US & that’s really good too for sure because of the absurd crit dmg, but not super necessary because Duellist is already 50% crit already. In my experience playing with different sets of blessings on… I’m just a Thrust/US fanboy, I’ll probably die on this hill. I feel that it’s super consistent in 1-2 shotting those pesky metal armies without having to on the successful dodge hoops you got to do first. It just takes the middle man out of it in my eyes. But in all seriousness, it is a bit sickening reading “nerf the duelling sword” like a million times everywhere I go… I swear it’s like a few times within a month on this forum. I’m pretty sure people know this by now…
