Dueling Sword Nerf

Yeah I don’t really understand why a knife should have top tier crusher kill speeds either. A lot of the time blessings are to blame for covering weaknesses too well. Weapons do need some pronounced weaknesses which then allows other weapons to shine.

As I said, without changing a single thing about krak grenades, nerfing the dueling sword would make them more worth picking. These things don’t exist in a vacuum

chain and power weapons should have enough cleave and damage to kill the elites faster to make up for their lack of mobility

that was the idea at the beginning

i really believe that the power and chain weapons should be ideal i want those weapons to feel… powerful like seriously more cleave and damage please

I’vem entioned this before but the chainaxes I’m pretty sure are some of the best rager killing weapons in the entire game. It’s just that it doesn’t matter, nobody uses them anyway, cause you can just dueling sword and deal with rager hordes some other way. It’s the elusive concept of opportunity cost again which maybe you will acknowledge someday.

their damage is fine, its just that in the current state they are unusable, and there are more practical options

i want the opportunities for other weapons should be expanded

As it stands that is only achieved by either nerfing the dueling sword or nerfing infinite cleave non-melee options, preferably both.

The only other way to achieve this as I mentioned before is hyper-power creep. If you give the chainaxe the same mobility and safe damage as the dueling sword you could achieve making it an equally strong pick. Is that a good thing for the game though? Everything would seem the same. Reginald has highlighted this concept before, I’ll try to find the nice little infograph he made

So let’s say (roughly) that current balance looks like this:

The solution is not to buff everything up to compete with dueling sword. You rein in dueling sword and buff the red weapons.

From this good post on it by Reginald

look I’ve played games where they consistently nerf the meta and the games get worse over time if we don’t bring buffs with the nerfs the game can turn into a slog it. nerfs don’t bring new fun into pve games they do in pvp games but in pve games you can always choose to use a less than meta more interesting setup but the weak weapons like the crusher wont become used without buffs like i have maybe seen one crusher user ever

Read my post again before you go on a tirade against nerfing.

You’re literally repeating the same stuff people have said before.

EDIT: Just because I want to make it impossible to miss:

You rein in dueling sword and buff the red weapons.

Ironically the crusher is one of the strongest weapons in the game and it’s really only not seen often because dueling sword + flamer blows it out the water so hard.
You can cover the dueling swords horde cleave weakness, you can’t cover the single target armorpen + boss damage + mobility weakness of the crusher with one ranged weapon. And the crusher isn’t even badi n these categories, the dueling sword just easily triples or quadruples it.

It’s literally not about the crusher being bad, it’s about the dueling sword being good. Pls. This is the 10th time

what is the method behind these graphs like how did they determine ‘safety’

It’s an ad hoc chart and showing a concept, not actual numbers. He didn’t measure them but they could be measured.
You’d have to ask him, but I would guess that it’s about getting locked into animations like after the thunder hammer special or during the chainaxe special.

so you are citing information you don’t understand got it

that is why i run rampage on my DS, Uncanny is enough to make it effective with elites, rampage just make it the perfect weapon

unless you are an infernus psyker, its obvious that if your ranged is for horde clear your DS benefit from blessings like thrust more

A good way to tell when someone is wrong is when they resort to calling people r*tarded.

This is objectively true.

and I’m sure you can explain exactly why the chart is wrong because I don’t know the exact thinking of the creator of one minor point of it

sorry I call em how I see em

PS: if you actually do care about what “safety” means exactly other than the obvious animation locks and it wasn’t just an 80 IQ dig to try and hit me with a gotcha, I mean it, you can ask him, his forum account is right there
