I find it weird how the duelling sword doesn’t get the parry special but the starting sword does? Isn’t the duelling sword is supposed to be… a duelling sword? Where is the ripostes and parrying? The sword isn’t even designed to stab it’s a curved blade Would like to see the starting swords special get swapped with the stab animation and the duelling sword get the parry as I believe it would fit it way better.
Would definitely fit the theme of the weapon more, I agree. The special attack poke doesn’t do much of anything (damage wise or otherwise) at the moment anyways.
The stagger poke is still quite strong as it interrupts most things as they attack, whereas the parry relies on receiving the attack. I think it still fits the rapier “personality” since you are essentially riposting via the interrupt. The dueling sword is IMO one of the best weapons in a psyker arsenal atm. The strength lies in its mobility and finesse, the heavy attack is devastating when poking enemies in the head so accuracy plays its part when looking for perks. My god roll hunt is always about maximizing the crit chance as much as possible so the light attacks can chew through trash mobs with relative ease. Couple it with a surge staff and you can crowd control hordes like a champ.
it is used to stagger a Rager, a Mauler and some elites or specialists, normal or charged attacks won’t cancel their animations but a lot of specials actions of the melee weapons will, and it will break their posture for some seconds
Oh its a great weapon for sure. I will have to try out the special poke stab for interrupt purposes, that might change my opinion (hard to see things like that in psykanium obviously).
I usually run a Mk5 or Mk4 dueling sword, or a combat knife. Love me some fast finesse weapons.
That’s a game changer, wow. Thanks for the tip!
I completely understand your point. It does seem counterintuitive that the duelling sword, which is designed for precision and finesse in combat, lacks a parry special, while the starting sword, which may not be as specialized, has one. Swapping the special abilities could indeed enhance the authenticity and effectiveness of each weapon. The duelling sword, with its curved blade, would benefit greatly from a parry maneuver, aligning better with its intended use. Conversely, allowing the starting sword to have a stab animation would be a logical adjustment, as it aligns more closely with its design and functionality. This change could potentially improve the overall gameplay experience and make the weapons feel more true to their intended roles.
