I think it’s a ministagger to get time. IRL that’s really an insanely powerful attack, but in gmae not so much. A point that penetrates (irl) three fingers into the rib cage is most often lethal without fairly advanced medical attention.
Some of the special attack jabs don’t feel very good, they’re usually fast with higher stagger. I haven’t used a dueling sword in a while, but for some of the weapons they’ll interrupt Ragers which is pretty handy if you find yourself face-to-face with one suddenly and don’t want to get whacked with an axe.
On the Mk 5 dueling sword the stab loops back into L3 (the attack that does strong damage to all enemy types on first target hit). Its actually very fast and I usually poke ragers with that for safety, headshot opportunity is great.
On the other dueling swords it combos to the rest of their trashy slap CC lights so its bad.
