Double-tap to dodge

Can this be added to Darktide?

I have a few longtime V2 vet friends who this is really messing with and holding them back from fully sinking into the game. Lots of games use this as an option for dodges going back to Unreal in the 90s, and I’m sure there are a fair amount of players that have this hardwired as “dodge” for them as well.

Thanks!

Why would you want to torture you fingers and movement keys like that? Anyway, I agree this should be a feature despite being an inferior input method to the dodge key due to the increased input delay and how inconvenient it is.

In the meantime, you may want to take a look at macros to use this input method before Fatshark implements it. It should be easy to implement with AHK or something along the line. You can probably find such macros on github as well.

I also prefer to use a dedicated dodge key, but just trying to help people I know who prefer this method.

Autohotkey doesn’t have a way to trigger a macro based on double-tapping a key.
It is tailor made to do the inverse. e.g. press (A + Alt) to trigger an Autohotkey macro that double taps A to dodge left (if you were playing a game that required double tapping to dodge)

I couldn’t find any macro scripts that initiate from double tapping a key, but I would be glad to be proved wrong if someone can link me a script that would function as a double-tap to dodge workaround.

Yeah it’s faster for me, and I miss it.

I’d definitely like this.
And something that would make sliding a whole lot easier, allow slides to be triggered in any direction by double tapping the crouch key.
Both sprint slides and dodge slides are pretty awkward to do with the default controls.
It would likely help for people with physical disabilities too.

I posted about this previously and it was acknowledged by the dev’s and flagged as a known issue (not one of the stickied known issues though)

Hopefully we get in soon…

I’ve actually got used to binding dodge to the space bar these days, but used to be a double tap person. I’d like to see it in, if people need it to feel more at home.

It’s about having “options” - the more the merrier.
