So…
Combined Total Kills: 1520
Combined Ranged kills: 730
Combined Melee Kills: 523
Combined Ability/Bomb Kills: 267 2/3 kills are not melee…
I think this tells more about you and your teams playstyle than it speaks to the power of BoP.
If this is what you expect ranged weapons to do, I wholeheartedly disagree.
Feels like everything staggers CW these days… Even the Empire 1h sword staggers them with heavy strikes as long as they are not in the middle of an attack animation.
No Kaizen, what it shows you is what is not possible with BoP.
I can run full ranged Parties as a WHC with either Volley or X-Bow. I cannot do so with BoP because they don’t have enough Penetration into a Horde.
I can one shot Elites with either the X-Bow or Volley Charged Shot and a Ping… I cannot do that with BoP.
But you never asked yourself WHY the BoP was rarely ever used or why they were the first Weapon in Fat Shark’s Balance Beta.
Here’s your answer. ALL the other Saltzpyre weapons are capable of Killing Specials and Elites AND killing Hordes… ALL the BoP was good for was short range special killing and mowing down a group of Zerks. That’s it really, it was simply too NICHE compared to the other weapons and their capabilities.
What changed during the Balance Beta was that now it had Two New things it could do that made it comparable to the other weapons. (Not so much for Zealot or BH… for BH its still pretty subpar compared to the other options).
Those two new things were these… UNDER the WHC’s Ult it could now do a sizable chunk of Boss Mob damage when combined with Concoction Trait and Potion… And it could now two shot SVs so you could actually in an emergency mow down an SV patrol under the Ult, it didn’t add anything other than that.
If you give it a Reload… it removes both of those functions and puts it right back to where it started. Too Niche to be used by any of the Jobs, and back to collecting dust in the inventory. Because it will STILL have no Charged Shot like the Volley or Repeater to One Shot things. It simply does not have the capability on its own without unlimited fire to stand up to the other 3.
I almost exclusively use BoP on saltz, because they are fast and dependable, and allows me to take out whatever target that is not a monster efficiently and with mobility. The exception being BH - I’m not a huge fan of his playstyle, but when I play him, I use one of the other ranged weapons.
So I don’t see what you mean. Most pubs run xbow, because it’s easy life and they never have to fight a single SV as well as staggers and kills CW nicely with HS fishing for crits.
BoP was and is capable of wiping out an entire stormvermin patrol - not many weapons can do that.
You can one shot plenty of things with a headshot - actually everything besides monsters, zerks and CW.
Volley and repeater have slow reloads, and stuff that reduces mobility, BoP doesn’t have that downside.
I don’t know what to say about the shooting at horde stuff… It’s not something I do unless it’s an AOE weapon and only to provide pressure relief to myself or the frontline. I consider it a waste of resources, you might not.
You and I play differently, and that’s OK, I just don’t agree that BoP is weak. Even if it’s performance per shot remains unchanged and it is given 12 round magazines, it’ll still be my choice because of its speed and versatility when dealing with single or multiple target threats that needs to be eliminated.
The bop will still be able to take out 6 elites in a short time frame continuing with one more per reload.
The Volley can take out 5 but won’t be able to reload.
The Crossbow is at one from the start and probably has a longer reload than bop.
The pistol I honestly don’t know never apealed to me anymore in V2.
The bop gets beaten by every crossbow agains unarmored enemies and monsters, where it used to be a god on the ammo crate/ultimate build.
The Volley also one shots specials up close on charged shots, specifically those pesky Packmasters the BoP can’t because its base Monster damage is higher. At close Range the Volley Basically does everything the BoP does. And its got another addition.
Horde Destruction.
Volley, much like the X-Bow penetrates 4-5 into a Horde. So when you expend 15 shots into a Horde you’re capable of killing about 60 mobs in a horde on one clip and its capable of doing that without an ammo crate. BoP only penetrates 2 into a Horde and its nowhere close. And BoP the stars have to align and you just have to happen to be next to an Ammo crate when a Horde hits… which is unlikely.
The only time this changes is during a WHC Ult where the enhanced Crit rate can make it ammo efficient enough to do that. BUT you can do the same with the Volley.
X-Bow and Volley both are capable of one shotting Storm Vermin, but the Volley can either rapidly take down or one charged shot specials at close range unlike the X-Bow so its got the same capability as BoP along with Horde destruction. The X-Bow is much better at taking down Elites and can do it at much longer range plus it can one shot them unlike the BoP and has the same Horde Destruction capabilities of the Volley.
When you stack both Volley and X-Bow against BoP the BoP comes up short… UNLESS you’re talking about no clip on the BoP where you can mow down a charging group of enemies without worrying about ammo expenditure. There it DOES hold an advantage over the Volley… well… used to but no longer will if this change goes through.
Ie… BoP will sit and collect dust again.
EDIT: One more thing Hax… It won’t make a lick of difference if you can kill 6 SV vs 5 SV at a time with BoP clip vs Volley clip. Because unless you’re going to be taking on a full SV Patrol, you’re not going to be running into more than 5 SV at a time anyway, so it would be pointless.
BoP works… Fine… just completed my 95 games in legend with it… almost 100 and always use BoP. What we see in the trailer is just the player not shooting with aim… thats all.
Well, I really hope they do implement the limit to the number of shots, thus making pistols remotely realistic (by Warhammdr standards). But this will have to go along with rebalance of pistols, so they are just as useful as before.
I’m using them for the looks and feels right now anyway (WHC + pistols is iconic), but I’ll stop if they become a serious drawback to my performance.
Just ran into the keep with BoP. There are no changes to damage numbers to compensate the addition of the magazine system. It’s just a blanket nerf to the weapon.
They also forgot to remove the trow them away animations and pistol props being left on the ground that much for “reloading them”. It’s not really a show of quality.
What bright mind came with this reloading nonsense ?? It was the only thing that made this gun special and you took it away, now it has the longest reloading from the entire game. Sh*t dmg and you added weapon spread bug. Thx for making Crossbow the only viable weapon again.
