Okay now that the never nerf crowd has been chased away: Dogs not latching onto muties and poxhounds is one of the many broken OP things about the class. I mean, it’s probably not the most OP, but we can do better.
In my opinion, the Dog’s interaction with muties and pox hounds is like if dogs attacked a trapper’s net itself without any commitment, meaning they’re free to attack as many nets as possible and the trapper dies eventually. That’s what they’re doing with the other two disablers. If you have two muties charging you, dog stuns one and you get caught by the other which promptly drops you when it gets stunned as well.
Therefor, dogs should latch onto muties and poxhounds instead of being free to shut down multiple disablers without consequence.
I would like the same interaction with Ogryns, but not before bleeding dogsplosion exploit gets fixed. Ironically, dogs bouncing off of Ogryns makes optimal positioning a pain in the ass for people trying to get the most out of dognade.
Pros/cons: dog kills some enemies faster just because that’s how pouncing works, you are less safe because of dog being animation locked, dog has easier time getting into optimal position for dognade but we want puncture and brittleness fixed so it won’t wipe an infinite number of enemies in a 5m circle.
I was also a little surprised at how dogs just bounce off Crushers and Bulwarks like a pinball.
Wouldn’t it pretty cool to have them latch on ogryn-sized enemies like they do some bosses ?
What’s funny to me is that before the Ogryn rework/buff people were shooting down the idea that Ogryn should be able to free himself from the dog pounce within X amount of time perhaps with a cool down.
The argument was that it would make the class bypass the disabler element of the game.
Now we have a class that’s not only stronger than Ogryn, but also has unlimited get out of jail cards. Only thing that can get him down is the net.
The biggest cause of death when you are in a net is when another player rushes to you, but then starts to kill the trapper and slow mobs while you lay there.
It takes literally 0.3 seconds to free someone from a net. That’s faster than any other action in the game. It’s faster than most wind up attacks from enemies.
Just free us from the damn net.
So yes, having the dog kill the trapper ensures the player coming for you doesn’t get distracted by that.
What’s with desire to nerf everything good? You know, nothing stops you from taking white weapon, no dog, no other talents at all and then go enjoy havoc 40, trying to kill every enemy in one million strikes. And considering how many of your kind here, you can easily collect full party of masochists,
