Simply put, does it have a floor, e.g. 20% at max range and 5% at minimum, or does it go all the way to zero? Has anyone crunched the numbers for it?

Much appreciated, thnx man. Honestly I feel like they should give it a floor of something like 3 to 5% below 8m, it would make it relevant for maelstrom and STG builds, what a shame.
12 m is what I remember hearing for the start point. Also note it applies to nades too which is a nice little bonus.
Yeah, and falloff isn’t smooth it feels. Also, Longshot works that way it compensate falloff, but the thing is on braced autogun for example (or any gun with regular type of falloff i suppose) it can’t reach full potential, like it will be ~17% (atleast it seems from testing i was doing). Cause falloff on your gun will be bigger at some point than Longshot can compensate. Trash tier talent.
When I was doing some quick and dirty testing of the talent the other day I found that it starts working past 8m and seems to have a floor of about 5%, i.e. if you stand in melee range you get no bonus at all and if you stand at 9m you get around 5%.
Lasguns are the wrong weapon to be testing Longshot with because they have inverse damage fall off which will obfuscate the value of the talent. You want to test with something that has no damage fall off at all, like the plasma gun.
I wasn’t changing my range between shot without using Longshot and when using it, so reversed falloff on mg12 wasn’t screwing testing. There are a proper damage buff applies. It’s just that situation you will have 20% for lasgun almost never, like extra rare maybe, maps are mostly zigzagin corridors.

Well the range thresholds used to be 8-15-30.

This may explain other weirdness for “close range” like deathspitter? Am I Seeing things?

Yeah death spitter and I think all “close range” blessings require you to be about 8 m away (which really kneecaps them btw) so it’d make sense if they draw from the same “close range” definition in the code.
