BB being a sniper is somewhat understandable, but not Assail
BB is a sniper in the same way that launching an ICBM that hits the target 30 minutes later is a ‘sniper’.
But, that’s the good part! It feels so satisfying when you can hit those headshots on moving targets.
Except the ICBM has collateral damage
The Hellfire R9X missile on the other hand could be considered a Sniper weapon in a sense
On the other hand, it feels completely trash when it looks like you’re hitting the head, but the game decides to give you torso or limb damage. Voidstrike has laughable base damage, so if you’re not getting headshots, you’re in for a bad time.
Speaking of rockets and artillery, we need something like Torvald from Evolve. Long flight time which makes it difficult / take skill to aim properly, devastating when you do hit.
I’m sure there is some weapon on some unit in WH that could fit the bill.
Ah, poor Evolve. Yet another game destroyed by MTX and DLC greed.
Force swords are kind boring and no one really uses the special much outside of an opener or for extra style points, they also have a bunch of blessings that dont do anything they could use some love
Tbh I’m surprised they didn’t give the vet a proper rotary grenade launcher or heavy stubber. Psyker also really could use more staffs that do some different stuff like a gravity staff that slowly crushes enemies in an area or a proper beam staff.
Side rant time:
What bugs me about the “we are a penal legion” thing is that the vet has a plasma gun. Plasma guns are one of the more high tech and dangerous things not only for the operator but everyone around them. There is a good chance a plasma gun will just flat out explode killing everyone around them.
Sure you need a fairly high trust level to use it but the weapon selection is just plain odd. When you compare it to what gear the Chem Dogs from tabletop get it leaves me scratching my head. Their exotic gear is mostly stolen which fills in the lore gap but what we are and aren’t allowed to use is just weird.
Sounds like a job for the mole launcher.
Aim at the top of the head or even slightly above, it’s guarantied headshot if you manage to land the hit.
You can even hit enemies behind cover usually if you aim (just a tiny bit) above it.
Oh I know all that. When you have elevation changes, enemies moving and rushing and mixed enemies, you can’t always aim slightly above the head, though. Unless you like missing a lot of stuff.
A mortar that goes underground instead of launching into the air? Why, that makes perfect sense. Why wouldn’t one use a rock-burrowing guided torpedo. This is so stupid that it absolutely needs to be in the game!
I mean it’s not that stupid when the enemies has void shield generators, or have the upgraded version of the Iron Dome.
I’ll take a look at how Torvald work, but there are missile launchers in lore
If you mean this: https://youtu.be/pU3JhGNHTYc?t=142
There are a couple of ways I could see it work, both with Magic (both in fantasy or in 40k) or with standard tech, though might have issues with the closed maps and such
Yep, backpack mounted mortars. Just like the vikings of old.
Funnily enough that was a limitation on Torvald. In caves or other places with low ceilings, the mortars just slammed into the ceiling.
It also falls into that category of “if you are skilled with it you can absolutely ruin faces”.
Imagine walking into a room where heretics are behind cover on a high ledge. You pull out your mole launcher, you punt it into the ground, it digs a distance and when you activate it it pops out if the ground behind cover and detonates.
It would require understanding of the travel time and type of terrain but it would lead to some funny scenarios like using the mole launcher to flush out snipers.
Yep, a lot like Torvald (though his mortars were nerfed at some point). If you could predict the movement of the (human controlled) monster, you could absolutely wreck it.
I beg to differ on the notion of the Blessing “Blood Thirsty” with Illisi; I use the sword activation for each swing as each hit that follows a powered kill gives a critical - guaranteed. So, not only am I generating peril to get toughness, getting kills to get toughness, I am also getting toughness from crit. With Shred and Scrier’s gaze, this makes it a very powerful ability to have.
shred uncanny unstable executor all better
Uncanny wouldn’t pair well with the bloodthirsty because it’s already a guaranteed critical hit.
Shred is more bonus crit which, again, is redundant.
Executor is unreliable as it just takes one missed for the weakspot to hit a shoulder and lose that power.
Unstable is less ideal because If I’m understanding the power, the power bonus caps at high peril at 20%.
Bloodthirsty allows you to charge your blade for every hit and do a crit charge every time. With Slaughterer, you get a hefty bonus to your power that only requires you to kill your target and the buff lasts for 4.5 seconds.
I pair this weapon with a Voidstrike Staff or a gun as this blade is designed for horde clear.
