Discussion Topic: UI, Information, Navigation, Clarity

Hello all - I thought I’d start a repository for discussing UI related needs and ideas. I’ll start a quick list and we can to things as we go:

  1. Restore hotkeys for viewing weapon information (‘v’) and cosmetics (‘c’). Why did these go away? Why can’t we get them back?

  2. When scrapping items for dockets/plasteel/diamantine - it should display the amount of resources you’ll get as you’re selecting items to scrap.

  3. On the main loadout screen, weapons are listed as “Primary Weapons” (i.e. melee) and “Secondary Weapons” (i.e. ranged). However, in most other menus they are listed more clearly as “Melee Weapons” and “Ranged Weapons.” Consider changing the loadout to Melee & Ranged for consistency. This also reduces confusion between primary and secondary “attacks” - since this patch seems to be wanting to reduce using the same term for multiple different thing.

  4. ADD BETTER SORTING OPTIONS for the weapon lists. See the mod “Item Sorting” for an example. Option for sorting by “Weapon Family” and then then sorting within those groups by mark and tier/rating.

  5. Add more LOADOUT slots and as a bonus, allow us to also name loadouts. See the mods that allow that.

I agree with all of the above. I’d also like:

  • The ability to name specific weapons for my own sanity’s sake, especially now that things are named the same across marks.
  • Inspecting players from the social menu. Sometimes your team members don’t get put in the same lobby. Mods have shown that this is an easy fix.
  • The ability to scrap (not sacrifice) weapons in the shrine of the omnissiah so I don’t have to click in and out of it unnecessarily.

Last but absolutely, undoubtedly and indubitably not least; AN INGAME ENCYCLOPEDIA/GLOSSARY/WIKI/INFOCENTER/WHATEVER. On the eyes of my unborn children the fact that essential information about how the game works and what all its plethora of terms mean is completely unavailable in some official, ingame capacity is one of the dumbest things about this game. We’re talking about implementing a simple 2D menu/interface with information in it. This is most certainly not a big ask. It needs to be done so people don’t have to use 3rd party sources to learn how to play the game.

I’m assuming you’ve seen the “Enhanced Descriptions” mod - but it basically functions like an in-game tooltip system.

Every key term (Strength/Power, Finesse, Wounds, etc.) are color-coded and for some of the trickier ones a definition of the term is included as a foot note in the description. Makes a HUGE difference to the legibility of the game and understanding what’s going on. I can’t fathom why FS doesn’t implement something like this officially.

V is actually still available in Hadron/upgrading weapons. Jus a heads up.

@Flawless had some great UI suggestions here for the weapon sacrifice UI: Sacrificing weapons should always count towards which weapon type you sacrifice - #13 by Flawless – support for batch sacrifice without sacrificing your sanity!

I’d also really appreciate filter and sort to aid in inventory management, with priority #1 being filter by weapon type and weapon mark. Now that we have the tools to amass a variety of weapons within a class that all look more or less the same on the Inventory screen, this would be a great boon to “information, navigation, and clarity”.

Renaming weapons would also be great, someone please tell me if this is actually in the base game atm!!

This mod just came out that gives an option to filter your inventory to items that match what you’re sacrificing for. A step in the right direction (albeit a mod).

Hub hotkeys please.

I’ve sprinted around the hub looking for the Masteries vendor for an embarrassingly significant amount of time…

Time to update my mods I reckon!

No mastery vendor but you can definitely buy your mastery.
They shouldve added a mastery vendor.

FYI this mod…

… is amazing.

When you in you weapon inventory it gives back the hotkeys for marks, inspect, and customization - but also integrated a direct-to-hadron and direct to mastery & sacrifice button.

If you don’t know, this lets you click on a weapon, jump directly to the crafting UI for that weapon, you make changes, edits, etc, and when you escape out of crafting it takes you back to where you were in the inventory. Works for the same for mastery and sacrifice interface.

Fatshark - please take a look and implement something like this.

Going to be writing all of this down to share separately from the feedback for the latest update. Thank you as always!
