Dev Blog - Ogryn Pack Master

This all actually sounds really cool! Looking forward to trying it.

As others have said, the weak spot on armour is great and really you should give crushers a weak spot too tbh. All armour should have 1 weak spot somewhere.

It’s overall soulds like a good design - adds have weakspot, boss has counter mechanics (see through stealth)

However, such approach should be implemented all across the game. With one enemy like that players will feel you are just punishing one specific playstyle rather than changing the approach of how combat scnearios work.

And as it was already mentioned, with the ammount of anti armor why wouldn’t people just ignore that “find the weakspot” rule?

If you are aiming to make all enemies to follow the logic of countering players you should communicate that this enemy is just a first step.

Dags

“Did you say dogs?"

" Yeah, dags”.

They could enforce this mechanic by giving the dogs lower hitzone values on the armoured parts. Hitzone multipliers have been a woefully underused mechanic for basically every post-launch enemy I can think of.

Can’t wait to kill 1500 of them for the penance…

Nevermind, it’s a monstrosity, not an elite… not sure if there will be penances for the dogs.

I’m hearing that he grabs arbites dogs and stuffs them into a sack. Probably because they would auto-counter the cc from his dogs and basically turn off his main mechanic?

i guess that means we’re at the teasing content part, aka: update is in last polishing bits and we’re ready to show content bit by bit until everything is 100% ready to launch.

Yaaaaaay, more silent hounds :joy: but also nice, new content.

Can’t wait to face these solo w/ bots! Right @FatsharkQuickpaw? Right???

I need Dreg Mauler

kinda goes against their entire design ethos of the dog, but seeing as they won’t even fix a bunch of bugs related to arbites 9 months in I wouldn’t be shocked to see them get punished for using their class thing.

huh, how’s that for a birthday surprise

always nice to see some new enemies added :+1:

speaking of new stuff, any chance you broaden the deal with mcfarlane for another batch of darktide figures?

guess base ogryn ain’t big enough to kitbash me a pack master….

pretty please

What???

Didn’t expect new enemy teasers so soon. Great stuff.

So long as the armor is Flak and not Carapase, i think we can live. plus they are made slower, so that works out. plus it’s only when the Pack Master is on the field, so that’s better then with other hound modifiers. Though i’m wishful thinking at this point.

Personally i would like a statement about any plans for fixing Havoc bugs, the game’s dated HUB UI, and if there is any plans to work on Ogryn weapons and talent tree rework.

Happy to see the duelling sword is even more mandatory.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the armored dog was carapace, honestly for most weapons if they were flak instead it’d be a blessing…like the heavy las pistol, a crit headshot won’t even kill a dog, but it will kill a scab gunner who has 400 more HP. Infested is pretty tanky, flak is hilariously less armored than if it were just unarmored vs most weapons.

I assume it will have 900 HP base like the old dog (so 1800 on damnation).

more non carapace elites would be nice yeah, which is probably whey we are getting carapace covered hounds

K, I will stop bitching now. It’s good to see new content, especially an enemy. Greentide faction when?

Love this all around, especially the dialogue and the fact that he’s ambient. Also really dig more positional armor/weaknesses. Excited to dip back into DT to see and hear this guy!
