The description of deflector says “Additionally, block Cost is reduced by XX.X%” In testing this seems to not be functional at all for melee attacks.
If this description ONLY applies to ranged attacks then the description should be adjusted to note this.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
Acquire 2 force swords with roughly the same stats: (try to match all other blessings and perks)
Sword A: Without Deflector Blessing
Sword B: With Deflector Blessing
(Using sword A) Get hit by the same enemy while blocking and at 100% stamina and note the stamina reduction
3 (Using sword B) Get hit by the same enemy while blocking and at 100% stamina and note the stamina reduction
My testing results:
Sword A: Around 25% reduction in stamina
Sword B: Around 25% reduction in stamina
Sword B “Should” be less than Sword A but this is NOT the case
Gotcha, ok to an update to the text will clear this up. One odd thing is that to my knowledge nothing else in the game “blocks” ranged attacks so there is nothing to compare this calculation to.
I guess if the logic should be “reduces the damage of incoming range attacks by XX.X%” and that could be far more clear
Do not compare the costs of blocking ranged attacks between these two weapons unless you are aware of the difference in both weapon’s stamina templates. Ogryn Shield has a built-in block cost reduction against ranged attacks of 80%, Force Swords have a built-in block cost against ranged of 50%; both only in the weapons’ inner block angles. This will result in varying values against the same enemies, especially when additional reductions (e.g. Deflector’s built-in reduction or Celerity Stimm’s stamina cost reduction) are put into the mix.
