Deflector blessing not working with snipers

The new deflector blessing for the force great sword allows one to block both ranged and melee attacks. Doing some testing with a buddy we found that sniper shots seem to not be registering that your blocking.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

  1. play as pskyer and equip the deflector blessing on a force greatsword
  2. block towards a sniper while hes aiming at you
  3. wait for sniper to shoot at you while blocking and observe your health bar decrease like you werent blocking at all

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Confirmed - Sniper shots cannot be blocked with Deflector.

People have been asking for this since 2022.

It was confirmed that it was intentional, but possibly subject to change. Like the ogryn shield (which eventually was changed).

However one old thread has claims that “kinetic deflection” is actually what prevents it from blocking sniper shots and that not having it allows sniper shots to be blocked:

This topic keeps coming up for years.

Can we please have a final verdict from the developers?

Surely the gameplay designers don’t need more than 2 years to come to a decision about this?
