Darktide vs Space Marine 2

Character customisation is totally missing is darktide. I agree on this.
We should have choices for eyes, haircut, chin, eyebrow, corpulence, color of each eye etc. We have few faces and few haircuts… And what we needed was the possibility to create our faces… Like in the games of the 2020’s.

And also a possibility to tweak cosmetic by adding or removing details (like removing candle) and change also colors and textures.
I don’t care to have to pay for this, but i think we deserve something better than the current cosmetic system.

On this, yes, we need something seriously improved to be good. Actually we have something somewhat acceptable, just that.

They could have done a cosmetic system that would have generated a lot of money (espexially with micro transaction when 100k players were there), but they have chosen macro transactions for tiny content… It leads to frustration and less purchases.

The general poor quality and questionable re/design of the cosmetics, the ongoing stunts they pull with the funny money layer, the cutting of previously available QoL to maximise exposure to and retention for pushing cosmetics, the design philosophy of the cash shop as well as the insulting justification for the design, and on top of all that the “premium” price increase of the more desired (or at least more recognisable) cosmetics that showed massive disrespect to any Imperial Edition purchasers has soured me completely off any further monetary support to Fatshark. I never got the Necromancer DLC for VT2 either mostly because of what they did with DT.

To be honest… The imperium dlc is the best weapon cosmetic set you can get.
The only one that does not change the look of your weapon… And still applies a skin

One of my friends had bought the Imperial edition, saw the Drop Trooper skins and couldn’t get even one set with the Imperial Edition aquilas because the set was “premium” priced.

It still boggles me a bit that someone checked weapon skins and okay’d them when the skins would change the entire model of the weapon when it was only supposed to only either recolour/texture it or add a doodad or two. That was when I realised how hacked together the whole weapon system was (with the variant “system”), and was another factor showing how half-baked this game was on release.

Ok… this is just what I described many times as absurd prices.

If your friend bought Imperial Edition, couldnt he just drop another $5 for the bundle he wanted? If so, then what’s the problem? If not, why did he buy the Imperial Edition instead of buying straight up aquila in the first place?

Imo I hate the cash shop right ; sh!t recycling of skins, bundles on rotation instead of being available anytime, weird pricing in general, but damn me if Im gonna be stupid with my purchases/judgement. Damn me if I thought the cash shop premium store made by corporate old heads are gonna cater to the consumer. Nah man if anything Im thankful that the cash shop is garbage ; I got what I want and I aint wasting anymore money on some pixels unless something really catches my eye. We should be thanking Fatshark for making things easier, thank them for not creating the perfect Money Taking Machine. Rejoice that Fatshark is biting their own hand instead of our wallets.

My friend has a pretty small entertainment budget, so he saved for the Imperial edition as it was, on paper, the most bang for his buck due to the other stuff it had and how almost all cosmetic sets were 2500 aquila. The “premium” moniker was just an excuse for Fatshark to try to gouge additional money off more recognisable cosmetics even for the people who already paid them extra for the Imperial Edition. The “premium” being in quotes because of the quality of those cosmetics anyway.

There’s no need to be thankful that Fatshark fumbled so hard with their monetisation, just them trying what they have tried (even if the attempts pretty much pushed me away) has already soured them in my eyes.

Real quick, you should ask him if he still uses the Imperial edition skins and if he’s happy about it. Then ask him if he really expected to buy the “best” bundle with the free aquilas he got, free aquilas that only amounted to 1/3 (at most) of the extra dollars they needed to fork over for the Imperial upgrade. Then finally ask him if he would rather get 7-7.5k aquilas instead of Imperial Edition.

Lol n ye true, even the bundle your friend wanted, only the masks were cool. Bundle not worth. Bundle never worth.

He got it on sale so there was only a ~$5-$10 difference between Imperial and Standard editions. And “best” probably isn’t a great quantifier for those bundles, that extra premium price difference was for “recognisable”.

Damn then the more they shouldnt be complaining. Bro already got a discount and still wanted more. Gd brother.

But shiiii, the best things are the most recognizable stuff. I aint paying premium prices for Walmart kicks ; and I shouldnt be paying Walmart prices for designer. Eye of the beholder n all that bs.

It’s not just about the Imperial Edition, it’s the rampant price gouging for alleged “premium” quality that wasn’t even quality for something that resembles something from a popular regiment. Especially with the Krieger packs where you would also pay more for less. In cases like that you would have paid premium prices for Walmart kicks. More-so for people that got the Imperial Editions waiting for those regimental cosmetics and suddenly get told to pay more. Caveat Emptor and all that, but it doesn’t absolve Fatshark being money grubbers for making that decision.

Like I get they are playing with demand with the popular regiments, but for already overpriced cosmetics it just feels like a scummy move.

It is it is, but shii we’d all dish out any amount for the proper skin. Problem is, Fatshark is selling us bumass skins.

Guy, this also simply the prices asked. This is outrageous, at least in Europe it is. And I live in France, not Romania (not disrespectful, just a statistic, better wages in western Europe)
The cosmetics they sell have clipping problems… but worst than that, we have absolute no control of the system. We cannot remove this detail (like a candle, yes I hate candles), we cannot adjust the color… we are back in the 80s… but we are in the 2020s. That’s really a pity to have such potential and want to introduce phone transactions in a PC game (= high prices for so few offered).
How many money would have I spent in this game if they had put prices at 5€ a set? 10 times more than what I have bought, and not in the number of items bought, but in term of money spent. And to get more money from me, they could have sold also colors / textures…

Agreed, the combo of high price and extreme lack of customisation for whats bought has caused me to make a blood pact so strong the devil is jealous of it, he popped by and asked me politely to please please not too as it messed with the spacetime continuum and makes his fiddlework look amature.

I will never buy cosmetics in DT until they sort the shop.

Lower the price and remove fomo or allow customisation of colours.

I want kohl and black lipstick. Nothing too excessive as to disparage the grimdark setting, of course.

As ex-ADF, I can safely say the vast majority of soldiers are still like that today. You simply do not have enough energy, resources and time to maintain a David Goggins bod during military service.

SM2 runs smooth and looks pretty but makes me feel both weak (paper mache armor, no ammo) and bored.

DT is jankier in every way but the combat is so, so satisfying. At the end of the day, it’s about the gameplay loop, so I’ll keep playing Darktide.
