Darktide Inspiration: Siege of Vraks

Noticing how the aesthetic has been inspired by Vraks. The Vraksian traitors evolving into the Moebbian 6th enemies, merged with the newer traitor guard kit. The horrific way the Beast of Nurgle is portrayed stands out from its contemporary gaming depictions and has a Vraksian feel. The hound design themselves being the same as the OOP resin, albeit in service to a different god. Even the Mutant is a scaled down Ogryn Berserker.

On that note I hope they replace the mutant with this. Bigger than traitor Ogryn by a foot or two but serving more as a mini boss than an incapacitating enemy. We Already have the hound and catcher. The mutant could be relegated to a position just above the ravager and mauler but under the Ogryns. Maybe a charge into series of punches before the character gets up and has to fight it like all other enemies. A one time bowling ball.

Seeing as Plague Ogryns are pesent on Atoma Prime it’d be my hope that three varients could be introduced with at least one based on the chieftains horrific and daemonically influenced design. Reflecting the traitors being at different stages of corruption themselves. Just reskins basically.

Like the Death Korp on Vraks it seems off world (or at least adjacent Hive) Imperial guard or pdf have been drafted to deal with the traitors on their own soil. Which has me wondering if we will see Loyallist Moebians fighting against their traitor brothers. Imaginging Moebian armour before it was defaced. A combination of Maccabian Janissaries and Steel Legion aesthetics rather than the ubiquitous outfits worn by regiments across the Imperium.

We have daemons and mutated god alligned traitors, how far away are the dolorrous bells of Plague Bearers or the mock laughter of nurglings?

Where the Great Pox appears Plague Marines are never far behind. In the Vraks setting and rules single traitor marines were seen to command units of corrupted mortals. I see no reason why this could not be the case for an assassination mission modifier. This surprise being hidden from the player until the end arena where it could spawn said captain or marine. The thought being that it’s simply another traitor captain but a much more ancient traitor appears. If you think it unlikely the rejects could fight a plague marine perhaps the objective is simply to survive rather than defeat him? Using a servo skull Hadron hacks a door over a countsown until you can make your escape.

The nods to Necromunda in the web gun and the Cawdoresque weapons of Ravagers point to potentially seeinf Tertium gangers perhaps as conscripts or enemies in their own right.

Will we see nurgle agitatiors that serve to call forth extra hordes or to buff units while they yet live? Most mysterious of all, the abscence of enemy psykers! I have noticed some audio similarities with 40k Deathwing, I hope they take a page out of their book when they come to integrating psychic units with a touch of VTs sorcerer to boot.

Where do you think the direction of the game will lead?
