Daemonhost is super overpowered

on malice (3rd) difficulty, me and 2 friends just rush demons, a force sword, meat hammer lightning hammer and vet just shooting. we take it out sometimes without anyone even going down, haven’t tried that on heresy or damnation but an ogryn shield can just tank all the damage.

you can just avoid the thing aswell

No, it’s there for you to avoid it, a reward would entice you to mess with it, which is the OPPOSITE of the intended purpose.

The deamon host is a lovely reminder that we are low on the food chain, just normal humans (for the most part)

The deamon host can rip apart a space marine if they aren’t careful, a space marine basically take our irl world alone.

The power scaling is in line with the source material for the most part if you don’t like it, maybe rethink about being a 40k fan

Actually, I wouldn’t mind a small bounty for daemonhost kills. Some dockets+crafting mats+contract creds. Then it would become a risk/reward assessment vs simply “hey, deamonhost here, go around.”

That said, yes, it is 100% an enemy intended to be avoided unless your team is up for gunning one down. A pair of boltors, chainswords, or similar high burst damage weapons will make short work of it.

Here’s another (Awful quality) video of how easy to dodge the Deamonhost is

It gets killed before it can even down me, and that’s with one pub who set it off already dead and another one so incompetent he jumps off a railing halfway. Seems balanced to me, people just need to remember they can block and dodge.

If I could make a change though it would be that it only kills the player who activated rather than grief the rest of the team.

It’s even easier to dodge than those jank ass dogs!

Honestly I don’t mind the Daemonhosts, but mainly because I experienced the same in Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. They are pretty much the exact same mechanic, but less punishing than in L4D in my opinion.

Also many people say you have to just cheese it with an Ogryn shield, but with the right amount of skill, anyone can tank the Daemonhost long enough for your teammates to kill it. However, it requires two things.

  1. Your teammates have to be focus firing the Daemonhost and not getting distracted by grunts in the distance.
  2. You (Or whoever is tanking it) have to understand its moveset. It tends to attack in pattern and if you learn its patterns, you can effectively hold it off for a rather lengthy period of time.

I actually held off a Daemonhost that was aggroed on me (After killing our Ogryn, it was down to about 60% health) I was playing as a Psyker with a Dueling sword with only 2 bars of Stamina. As it was attacking me, I began to read its pattern. I did end up going down, but its because I make the all too common mistake I see most players make when confronted with a Daemonhost… wanna know what it is?..

DONT TURN YOUR BACK ON THE DAEMONHOST. Literally the most common way I’ve seen people get killed by it is by turning their back on it and trying to outrun it. You CANNOT outrun it. You WILL NOT outrun it. Keep your weapon up blocking, dodge as much as you can and ALWAYS KEEP BLOCKING. Learn the pattern and you can hold it off. Don’t swing on it, JUST… KEEP… BLOCKING AND DODGING.

I’ve handled several Daemonhosts in a similar manner on my sharpshooter and zealot as well, but I think it hammers home the point I’ve done it on a Psyker for a good 20-30 seconds before committing the dumb and turning my back to it, thinking I could outrun it. (My teammates weren’t going to kill it anyway, they were doing whatever else as in those 30 seconds the Daemonhost went from 60% down to maybe 50% health, bad team really.)

I would 100% love to staff bonk daemonhosts and do massive amounts of damage.

A secret 1000% damage bonus on Staff special specifically to Daemonhosts XD

Witch in l4d2 would kill 1 unless you all bunched up 1 meters away from each other and got hit lol

today had a person trigger not 1 but 2 daemonhosts wiping the entire team during a horde, epic game mechanic!!!

Riveting gameplay right there.

I like the role the the DH fills in the game, but the fight mechanics are awful. I don’t skip it because it’ll kill half the team, I skip it because fighting it isn’t fun gameplay.

9/10 times that one gets triggered, I just get as far away from it as possible so that by the time it inevitably kills 2 people I’m not left with 1hp and a full bar of corruption. The risk of helping to fight it just isn’t worth it in pub runs.
