[CW] Player joining not getting items the bot had

On Chaos wastes, when a joining player replaces a bot (even with same character), if the bot was carrying any items they are simply lost, and the player joins with an empty inventory.

Granted, it’s still (most of the time) better to have an empty player instead of a loaded bot, but I seem to remember that was not the case before.

I also suspect that when the opposite happens (player disconnect and get replaced by a bot) the same happens, and the bot is empty handed again. Not 100% of that though, I’ll keep an eye if it happens again and update post if I still can.

I believe this has been a thing in the CW´s from the start, unlike QP or any other mode if i am not mistaken.

I got confused by it too.

Funny, I thought it used to carry items over player connecting … My memory might be at fault then.

If it’s not a bug, please move it to Feedback/Suggestions then, because I think items really should be carried on

Will move this over to Feedback/Suggestions. Just to add, though a player joining a Chaos Wastes Expedition in progress won’t gain any items or boons, they do receive some Pilgrim’s Coins to help catch up, as well as any unlocked buffs from the run so far (e.g. +% Health or +% Crit Chance etc.).

That is a poor consolation when you pop in 3 maps down the line and find yourself facing grudgemarks while armed with white sticks and less extra coins than a single good map X_X

Its really too little to feel good at all.

And then there´s that whole thing that someone else posted about recently too, how that extra 20% you´d have after another run ends (with leftovers) easily gets lost because stability is poor or someone ragequits.

Or when you pop into a run late and encounter a fight you cant win T_T

How about having 200 coins from the previous run, popping on the last platform in the CoE just as the stairway appears and crashing when you reach it, without the option to rejoin once the game has restarted?

To clarify, the game does remember individual player/bot states.

The replaced bot does retain their items if that player leaves, the same way a player who DCs still has their own items when they rejoin (a bot doesn’t swallow/use them up).

So yes can be a problem that a new player has nothing… but personally since a crash on Lost City of Marakza is not uncommon, I’d prefer it remembers state of individual players always.

Making this change is more likely to create a scenario where if I drop, I come back with none of my items… which is FAR more annoying…

At least I didn’t know what I missed out of if I replace a bot
