Current State of Kruber

Alright, its clear that you have failed to grasp the mechanics of Longbow. And its fine as it isn’t exactly clear.
You have to shoot immediately when charging it. You cannot wait for the zoom as by that time the accuracy decreases (as its a bloody longbow and Kruber is just a normal guy, its hard to hold it in draw).
So, you shoot it immediately when charged without the zoom and it is accurate, and fast.
Test it out and see how it feels, it works completely opposite from the Elf Longbow.

Now we argue with realism? How about that a handdrawn crossbow wouldn’t be able to pierce (plate) armour, yet Saltz’ Crossbow does that just fine?

The longbow is one of the best weapons in the game, it probably feels inaccurate when you’re zoomed in because if you pay attention to your crosshair the zoom stage lowers the accuracy in favor of damage. His other ranged weapons are more situational but are decent when used in those situations such as Blunderbuss for team support Kruber. For armor, as others have said, use the Halberd if it’s a problem. It’s fast, has good aoe, breaks shields, and the moveset makes hitting armored targets easy without needing to use a slower weapon like the hammer. As for the individual jobs, I can’t speak to Mercenary because I haven’t played it in ages. But Huntsmen has immense output as the team’s boss killer and Foot Knight can rescue team mates from basically any downed situation in addition to stunlocking bosses.

Halberd is better with high power for the difficulty; at low power I also prefer 2h hammer

Huntsman is pretty bad now though. They need to at least fix his stamina talent for better melee

Yeah that was sneaky af and uncalled for.

Not even cranked crossbows could (:

I main Kruber, 200 hours in right now and he is still my favorite on FK for legend runs so /shrug

i prefer the 1h mace & blunderbuss combo on foot knight.
2h hammer is slow and unreliable while 1h mace can 1 hit stormvermin in head.
blunderbuss clear hordes and instant kills any special up to medium range.
about the longbow i used it once in the prologue and never again

I am 250 power player and haven’t come to legendary, so i would not say is he terrible or not. Though i will disagree with you about difficulty. Any difficulty matters, and claiming otherwise is just showing off(just like alcohol, milkless coffee and playing with different input devices). So i have a questions about this hero design(as a role, talents and skill):

  • is he good, op or just okey in legendary
-is he, whats above, only with certain weapon type?
-if so, how good he’s with other weapons in other situations?
-is he,whats above, only with certain skill set?
-how he’s doing outside of legendary?
-How skilled were huntsman-players that you’ve played with?
-how skilled you are as a huntsman and how do you value yourself?
-Huntsman is a special killer. Is there other career(itself or needs special talents set) that also specialize on killing specials
-how well they can replace huntsman?

and again, diffucilty does matter. Im not a “make this game easy” guy, and i dont want this game being another “For everyone” game, but i dont have a time and dont want to spend over 1000 hours just to start having fun with huntsman. And those questions are not to claim that he’s trash, but if there would be a bunch of answers that indicates him as “only with certain build and no other way to play him” thats a shitty-designed career that needs to be changed. You wont play as a shitty-shaman in WoW(example), wait until you get lvl 60, certain skills and items just to be gut, while many other classes playing with soft-progression, balanced and have different ways to be viable.

The shotgun can one-shot almost all elites and specials on champion with the hunter(lower drop off at range).
His critical hit is at 25%(might be higher) if you have all the talents and proper properties which means he will never run out of ammo with any orange trait ammo back ranged weapon.
I can clear an elite quicker than any class. A quick jump and shot will take out a stormvermin before he can wipe my team. His halberd has stupid punch through and attack speed with swift strikes is op.
The executioner’s sword does way to much damage for the fast swings. The hammer can stun lock even chaos warriors. His greatsword has wide sweeps that can offset poor aim on your part.

All you have to do is get some push angle and halberd melee is pretty safe. And block cancel often of course. Add some stam regen and he can run off on his own in Legend

For armor hold push longer and halberd will downward swing immediately after. It can even swing twice

Kruber is very likely the most balanced hero, including all careers at the moment.

Huntsman is absolutely not garbage, sorry bud but you’re using him and the longbow wrong, his damage potential is incredible and easily one of the top 3 boss killers.

As someone who mostly plays Kruber, I cant say with certainty that hes not OP(however, I do believe so, but again - Kruber main here - take everything I say with a grain of salt) in some situation but I can certainly attest to him not being in need of any substantial buffs right now. The halberd is a bit too good for what it does, although it might feel that way because the only weapons worth it for Kruber atm are the halberd and 1h mace. The rest are either bugged or just make no sense in their current state(sword n board being inferior to mace and shield and the latter being inferior to just picking IB and having more tankiness + more dps to name just one example). All of his ranged weapons seem to be in the sweet spot, theres no op or useless one there.

All the bad stuff he suffers from are universal issues like picking skills being a no brainer for the most part, since theres usually always 1 superior option to all others. That could be said for all heroes and careers and isnt anything Kruber specific tho.

Hey, don’t be talking smack about swordnboard. This thing is amazing. If you ever want to have a shield but still be able to kill things it’s a very nice middleground.

On what difficulty is that? Dont get me wrong, im a hardcore sword n board lover. Used to run that stuff exclusively in V1. Was kinda disappointed with its performance in V2 tho. On lower difficulties its fine but on higher ones, its meh compared to your other options - especially if you take into account that an Ironbreaker can do exactly what you do but better and retain more dmg output while theyre at it, ultimately making your choice sort of pointless unless youre doing it for the pain factor.

I mean it has crappy AP values, does little dmg vs unarmoured targets compared to other weapons and short of the hilarious shield bash(which I still love for its comical effect of sending slaves flying if nothing else), youre worse off at dealing with hordes than even with just a plain and simple 1h mace. All of that and because of the shield, your dodge distance is abysmal. You trade a ton of dmg potential, dodge distance and versatility for more survivability, something that a different character can beat you at, any day of the week without even trying.

Compare that to, say, the halberd. Arguably one of the best melee weapons in the game right now and definitely the best one Kruber has. Long reach, ok dodge distance, very good AP. Good horde clearing potential without having to block much if your positioning is right and you know how to dodge. You dont need the additional stamina from the shield if you take the halberd. Same applies for the mace, except for the longer reach. Might be unfair to compare it with his best weapon but seeing as melee is already sort of “disadvantaged” due to various bugs and ranged ruling supreme atm, I dont think the comparison is too harsh.

Dont get me wrong. Id love to be able to use sword n board again. I absolutely adored that weapon back in V1. But with how much armoured is running around in Champion and especially Legend atm, thats akin to committing suicide at the beginning of the round.

I play mostly on legend. Sure it wont destroy as halberd but it still deals good damage. Spamming shield slam and push deals with hordes while shield slam into stab into last hit of normal chain ( last hit of normal chain has very sold armour damage, probably best out of all hits on this weapon ) can remove stormvermin if all connect into the head. It swings fast, you get a lot of stamina and have versitale damage. And if you have time to go through entire heavy strike chain, the last horizontal one seems to deal very good damage to hordes too. ( That’s why i stack all the attack speed on this weapon i can. The faster you can get to the correct hit in the chain the better )
It’s not a top tier choice by no means but it definitely holds up in legend.
I run attack speed and stamina regen on heavy hits as talents and try to get attack speed crit and swift slaying on it and capitalize on the offense of it.
One of the most fun things for me to play in this game is foot knight with sword and board. I wish that lvl 25 talent that gives you power after charging would work because it would be my choice.
