Crusher (Power Maul) + Power Cycler?

Is there a chance this could be a thing?

I find the Crusher is great for clearing space, but I have to pound enemies 3-4+ times to get them to stay down.

Don’t know if Power Cycler would break, just a thought.

Power maul’s niche is crowd control, and pretty much all of that (at least, where it matters) comes from the weapon special. Not having to activate that every swing when you’ve got a ball of crushers in your face would be nice.

Being able to chain that insane stagger and suppression AoE consecutive times sounds turbo dumb to me. I’d rather they just upped these weapons’ horde clear a touch so they feel a bit less pigeon holed and gimmicky.

the problem with melee crowd control weapons is that if you need crowd control you’d rather bring a surge staff which is ranged, staggers more enemies, can kill stuff if played correctly and overall brings a better risk to reward ratio to the table…

even bully club is superior due to (1) not needing a power up to kill stuff (2) thrust (3) haymaker which makes it ok for CC+Clearing

imo crusher needs something like thrust and haymaker as a bare minimum - or - a weapon redesign… Unless, the new talent trees offer zealots a creative way to convert stagger into damage

I’d rather they just go ham with the crowd control angle and make the weapon special fling trash enemies across the room like you’re playing baseball with their mangled corpses. Seems like kind of a waste not to.

The point is: damage is king in this game. CC is nice, don’t get my wrong, but if you NEED CC you get a Psyker with Surge Staff - the Crusher won’t make up for not having that.

To me it’s either more damage straight up, Power Cycler or even more CC - to the point it can stagger Mutants like Surge.

Yeah, let’s not forget this weapon was added after launch…It does kinda seem like a crappy excuse for content at this point, but coupled Power Cycler, it sounds amazing. The devs did say they wanted some weapons to have an impact equivalent to Sauron’s mace.

Unless what you want to play is zealot or ogryn, in which case you use the power weapons. I don’t disagree that raw killing power is usually preferable, which is why I say that if the weapon you’re using isn’t great at killing stuff real good like, it might as well be fun. Which leads me into…

All they’d need to do is increase the throwing power a little and add some more pronounced up-swings, and they’d absolutely nail this.

Yeah, on second thought, a IV Power Cycler Blessing on the Crusher would be way too OP, unless it was activated by a certain circumstance such as “On kill” or a Critical hit which could be paired with a new Blessing that increases crit chance. But a couple of extra powered swings with it would be nice.

I would rather they make the power maul and crusher like the silly book hammer from VT2, but have the power able to be unleashed at any charge level. Full charge gives you the crazy stagger, partial charges would be enough for small CC. Make the special a charge button you can cancel at any point and bank that charge.

Something more dynamic for gameplay than ‘hit button smash hit button’.
