I played in beta and I saw lots of combat knives with either first strike and crit. After the game went live, I have not seen a single crit based combat knife on the action house playing my preacher or any other character class. Did they remove Crit based combat knives from the game or is it a bug or oversight?
Reason why I ask is the build I am running heavily depends on crits to trigger my defensive ability and bleeds for offensive bonuses.
Its that lovely RNG base mechanic, that was probably implemented to get players to log more hours into the game. So you are just gonna have to get lucky.
I have seen a few combat blades with crit on them, got one myself with 4 crit and 1 stack of bleed on non weakspot hits on my zealot also got a couple on my veteran and psyker.
Thx, for letting me know they are dropping. Its just that I have not seen them and yes I am aware of the RNG mechanic. Its funny out of the 4 times a day I can check or more I see maybe only 1-2 combat knives all of them are first strike biased. While I see many more times swords, power hammers and tactical axes that make up 1/2 the listed gear.
Lastly when the new patch comes out to change a blessing on weapons we can apply that bleed but again its RNG so it might take some or alot of resources to do so. But were shafted on the crit for the knives as is as knives seam to be very few on the auction house.
sadly thye kind of nerfed the combat knife, from beta to live, during beta the way bleed work was far more consist then currently with it downward based stacks of DOT, like at 9 stacks of dot your doing 32 going down by 0.75 per ticks. so in the end your looking at between 12 seconds of mediocre damage. compared to the time based constant damage. were each stack lasted ~8 seconds.
Currently I have not seen any crit stat combat knives drop on in my stores yet. Its very odd I see a low number of the first strike ones compared to the other weapons which seam to be in mass bulk all the time. The combat daggers are dropping extremely less for the first strike stat and non-exist for the crit stat ones in my game play.
I can work with the first strike knives so long as they have a bleed blessing which I only seen one since live release. The only one I have found and purchased which is 12 to 20 pts of damage less then the others that are on the auction house now adays. Its really odd the shadow nerfed the knives like this with out even bothering to mention it in any update.
I do have spare knives with high damage stats waiting to be re-crafted when the re-blessings comes active. Then I can tool better first strike knives to replace my low end one. But honestly I want a crit stat knife to really get my build to sing…
As of right now, the tactical axes are the best for crit. They have finesse and crit bonus stats, which synergize. The brown one (forget which mk) seems to be the best in terms of attack speed, but others may suit you better.
Did you know the combat knife has about flat 15% critchance by nature?
The tactical axe may have up to 15% by finesse. - The knife got 15% by nature of the weapon type.
I have yet to see a knife with ‘critical bonus’ though (finesse modifies crit damage, not crit%). Crit bonus increases crit chance to 15% (if we ever get the chance to bring anything to 100%), as well as increasing crit multipliers, making crits more effective at the same time. Atm, an 80% roll gives 12% crit chance, so you get 3% less crit chance, but you also gain 37.5% bonus crit damage. Also considering that its light attacks damage everything in the game effectively, you never have to use heavies unless you can reach a oneshot breakpoint on heresy and below (or staggering berserkers), which greatly increases your dps against armored elites without sacrificing damage anywhere else. Your sacrifice is in cleave and horde damage, but that’s usually an issue that a gun can handle better anyways.
only the tactical axe got a visible crit chance modifier with “Critical Bonus”
Here a quote from a very good steam guide:
For better understanding: numbers with a range = modifier, no range = hidden base stat.
Weapon Base Crit
Some of the crit chances had a basic and perfect range (determined by Critical Bonus), so i included them. If its not listed then it does not have any more or less crit on top of character base crit
